AI detection software is unverified GARBAGE or “SLOP” as the younglings say.
I’m convinced the main purpose of them is to stir discourse. I’ve seen legitimate artists unfairly attacked in the Comic Book space because AI deranged individuals ran their work through em over little/basic imperfections. Also we have NO way of determining how said software is developed. I can easily see ANY modern song getting flagged over using basic shit like pitch correction, samples, etc like @Saishu pointed out (if a music equivalent exists or existed).
There’s also the issue of, at least for text-based detection, it gives false-positives a LOT of the time on human-written text that’s just been written by a neurodivergent person. Or even just somebody who grew up in online spaces full of neurodivergent people. It’s bad enough to the point where a lot of high school and undergraduate university students have started keeping version histories of written assignments so they can prove to their teachers they actually wrote their own work.
Videos/images is one thing but why would a band that have been around for this long start using AI to generate their music? I cant see this happening at all realistically. But if it did, that would be very sad times indeed and defo the end of the band.
