DIR EN GREY new single "19990120" release

Strangely enough, I don’t doubt that Kyo, Toshiya, and Shinya would be able to pull of this kind of again despite their age, I mean you could throw Toshiya and Shinya into a band with most prettier, younger looking members like GazettE or lynch and they would’ve fit in just well. And in the case of Kyo, well i think the 90’s Kote style would have still look pretty good on him.

Also damn, i forgot how Kaoru used to mog Shinya in the looks departement (Subjective opinion i know, he still looks pretty good nowadays, just in a different context)

Not for Dir en grey, they dont use very low tuning in 4 strings bass or 6 strings guitar. If they need Drop A#, they pick their 5 strings bass and 7 strings guitar.

Every song from GAUZE had a music video (yes, even GAUZE -mode of eve-).

Clicking through should take you to the playlist.

This is from the official compilation GAUZE-62045-.

I miss when visual kei had money to do this kind of shit

I’d even take low-budget or no-budget as long as the whole band is having fun with it, honestly

Like video games and movies, everything else is more expensive to make nowadays (And Gauze has Yoshiki’s money right?)

I’m not sure it’s more expensive nowadays to do an MV. But for sure, music create less money with CDs falldwn.

I hate that it’s true, even with the existence of blu-ray player that is relatively easy to find nowadays, (Seriously, even if you aren’t really a gamer, a PS3 is extremely worth it) and the streaming plaforms (that probably doesn’t pay much anyway) I guess the best way to make money as a musician nowadays is through the appearance on another media like anime openings or create extremely viral hit that got 10-12 million views at best, or a few hundered thousand that is slowly building up to a million at worst.

the major money making scheme nowadays is to produce soulless junk tailor-made for tiktok virality

The best way to make money as a musician is to go play shows and sell merch to all the drunks caught in the moment. Haha.

Problem is, increasingly, venues want to take a percentage cut of merch. Artists are struggling. Please buy if you can to support the bands you love.

Ah yes, that is true and it massively sucks. But some bands are finding ways around it which is nice. On the positive side too I havent come across this too often. I think its mainly a thing at bigger venues which host more mainstream artists.

Shocked we have no cover yet. It’s almost Christmas. Maybe next week.
