This is the first time I’ve heard that. I’ve always called it THE FINAL.
That’s how I’ve always called it too. But on the DEG Wiki, the pages for both the WTD and Unraveling versions of the song say it in the Trivia notes.
Idk. Could be wrong there. But there’s a similar note on the Japanese Wikipedia page for the single version of the song.
I got it from the Japanese wikipedia. Should probably make a note about that lol
Oh wow, you work fast! I already see the update on your wiki!!
Haha thanks but I actually first looked it up, then got sidetracked by other DEG mysteries and now I only know that this information was added to the JP wikipedia in 2007, but without a source.
So that’s why I only acted three hours after your question^^’
I also checked some magazines and the band’s homepage from back then, but no information there either.
Not saying “the” when the song is called “The Final” is like saying Kagrra, is pronounced “Kagrra comma”.
Lol that’s fair! I guess for me, 3 hours in forum time is like, not that much time at all xD
Today I was kind of surprised to learn that the woman from the Oboro PV is the same one from the Obscure PV (biting the newborn’s head)
Never really cared about them except in my first months into Vkei/some Songs of them.
Randomly decided to listen to Marrow of A Bone.
Awesome Album.
Which Albums are in the same Style/direction, kinda dirty - chaotic - messy? Or which ones are recommend to listen to ?
If you like the Marrow of Bone, I’d say you might like Vulgar and Withering to Death as well.
For recommendations, My favorites are Uroboros, Dum Spiro Spero and Arche!
The Insulated World.
Much of Vulgar for sure. The Insulated World is somewhat similar in the aggressiveness, but the production isn’t as chaotic. I actually suggest the live versions of songs from this album personally, I actually didn’t appreciate the album until I heard the songs live in NYC and then heard live recordings from elsewhere.
Dum Spiro Spero is also very chaotic but it doesn’t seem as messy as Marrow in my opinion. It’s heavy and aggressive for most of the album but the chaos is very… precise and calculated. I also think it’s easier to digest this album in sections, even though I love it now it can still be a very exhausting experience try and listen to from front to back in one go if I’m not in the right mindset for it.
My favorite albums in their “new” era are Uroboros and Arche. Uroboros is a good mix of vibes, from proggy and ambient to straight up aggressive to more regular modern rock. Arche on the other hand is trying to be a massive ambient metal epic in a way, with a lot of melancholy, and a lot of sections where Kyo is singing in a way that’s soaring above everything else the band is doing with a lot of reverb and delay on his voice. In my opinion it succeeds in a lot of what it’s trying to do, but not everyone seems to agree.
Note the two different versions of UROBOROS. The original mix is incredibly raw, similar to MARROW. The remaster has a much larger, more cathedral-like sound.
Thanks for the Information.
Just listend to it and have to das it’s gooood.
Better then Vulgar and kinda worse then MoaB.
Will listen to the other Albums in the next days.
Can confirm. I own the remastered 2012 version of Uroboros. I love this one more than the OG, due to this as well the epic extensions
Arche was basically the Album that made me an Dir En Grey fan.
the same, thanks to that album and sukekiyo
I’m the opposite. Biggest issue with the remaster for me is the drums being replaced with samples.
I find their albums almost unlistenable, but really enjoy live versions. I know people said about how they only started to “get” TIW upon hearing it live, but frankly I feel that way about every single thing they’ve ever released. Uroboros was probably the worst for me, the original and the remaster are ugly to me in opposite directions.
Sometimes I think there’s snare (and maybe kick) samples on the original Uroboros mix as well. There’s some parts on some songs where Shinya goes for a roll on the snare and it sounds like the same one-shot one after another.
The kick I only think might be a sample cuz of how plastic it sounds on some songs, but that’s also entirely possible with a live mic’d kick.
