Vocalist Cra (Ex-Licker)

Shinya made this 45 min video about the pronounciation of every Dir en grey song. Which is great BUT when they reach The Final he says the “the” is silent so the song is just called final. And it is fine to state that they as the band just call it Final but it is still written “the final” on every CD/DVD and what ever and you can’t just decide that, Shinya. Also it is one of the very few song titles that are part of the lyrics: "Let’s put an end, THE FINAL "

I love Shinya’s Channel but that bothered me for some reason :joy:

But isn’t that common for Japanese bands anyway? It’s the same with Gazette which still gets pronounced the way the original katakana writing displayed. And - without any more example coming up my mind right now - I’ve seen that more often throughout the years.
I guess that’s because of Japanese in which there’s no article before nouns and therefore they don’t use them when saying the words while it belongs to the nouns in English. It’s just my guess and it’s what I’ve seen over and over again.

Shinya could say “Gif is pronounced GEEF” and I’d be like “Yes, my King!”

That would make sense if kyo was not singing the “the” but he does at least in the original Withering to Death Version. Also why name the song “the final”. One word titles are not uncommon.

Same album has a song “garbage” not “the garbadge”.

Next album has “grief” and “the pledge” :joy: like they randomly choose to use an article or not.

It just does not make sense. I mean it does not have to make sense. I just thought it’s hilarious.

Regarding Gaze, I think it is just because they started as Gazetto and just kept that because that’s what everybody was used to. Like most people don’t use full band names if they are long. Dir en grey are just Diru, L’arc~en~Ciel is just Laruku. Hell, McDonald’s is just Makku

Whether there’s sense behind or not … who knows? I mean, yeah, it seems illogical. But we can’t know what was on - in that case - Kyo’s mind. Not everything seems to make sense depending from one’s own point of view.
Maybe I’m too old for some things but what I learnt in life is that I don’t have to understand every single thing. Sometimes acceptance is all it needs. No matter whether I can really comprehend why this is this or that way or not.
Combined with this there’s also something called artistic freedom (not sure whether that’s used like this in English like I know it in German). So they might go by this or that sometimes and sometimes not depending on what just fits better on one level or another.

A fellow german?

I don’t think we disagree on this. I just made a post about something that I noticed in a members youtube video because I thought it was funny. The concept of a whole word being silent instead of just some letters in a word.

So it seems.

It‘s alright. I guess I took it more serious than you have meant it. I came across too much judging in my life where I think it‘s not justified.

It’s dumb, but it’s the kind of dumb stuff I like. I love this pretentious meaningless bullshit, it’s a funny trivia. It doesn’t really matter either way

Gackt’s first time going to a drive thru (really?) with a side of carpool karaoke. I was not surprised he ordered an iced cappucino and I can’t explain why.

since car culture isn’t as omnipresent in asia as in the US, i wouldn’t be surprised if drive-thrus just don’t really exist. Now that I think of it, i dont think ive ever seen one ANYWHERE in korea
