Actual fans of Drugs/Fukuro/Yoshiatsu or the general vkei public? Because he makes money with his fans, and not general public who were never part of the circle who pays for cheki, concerts, merch, and has sex with him.
I am not saying that their reaction wouldn’t have had effect on what’s going on without Killing Daze. But business-wise, and given how vkei operates, the general sentiment doesn’t matter. Tanuki has been alive for 20 years. Yoshi is not doing anything that was never done before in much bigger scale and much worse. And, as you can see, majority of vkei artists are still fine despite all the horrible shit they have done.
DRUGS fans at least. I’m seeing lots of people criticising / even insulting the handful of gya still defending him after this, and similar sentiment as here re: the other members.
To be clear, I agree with you that this happened because Killing Daze got involved and likely would have been forgotten/swept under a rug without that. All I’m saying is that, in addition to (or maybe that’s also because of, hard to tell?) the Killing Daze reaction, the Japanese scene reaction is not what it traditionally has been in similar situations.
I’ve tried to be very like, “i haven’t seen anything i haven’t seen myself” about this whole ordeal and talk only about posts i’ve seen Yoshiatsu make - i’m not yet considering anything said by anyone sending in screenshots bc idk what to believe yet
So i’ve been like “these optics look bad but whoooo knoowwwsss could POSSIBLY be some wild misunderstanding” i mean unlikely but i’m still not prepared to feel a way yet.
Then i see six bandguys decide to halt projects, affecting their income and career, and i have very little reason to doubt something serious is afoot
So in this case, speaking only for me, the thing that makes me feel significantly worse about Yoshiatsu being an okay guy is these members’ statements, with KD having next to no bearing on my impression (which will likely change when/if they make public statements)
edit: sorry Zeus for tossing more trash in where you’re trying to clean up
Did Killing Daze make a statement? Or is this purely in response to Yoshiatsu’s decision to step aside from all his projects? I was expecting KD to make a statement but the bands beat them to it. Also, reading some of the other messages that members left gives me the impression that there’s more going on than meets the eye.
Exactly this, and after this I doubt many other bandomen will want to associate with him going forward. I’m genuinely hoping that seeing consequences weeds out the more shitty behaviour in the scene at large. Maybe that is, once again, overly optimistic, but a gya can hope.
I can definitely see new filters in SNS management after this or at least new regulations for bands and labels, whatever is good or bad.
Regarding drugs in particular, i read their gyas complaining that their lives were foreigner luring and Yoshiatsu was very much into English and giving attention to foreign fans. so, at some point with this band or Yoshiatsu projects, is it credible the overseas attention and promotions they were trying to get and the consequences..
I kind of had this feeling as well, especially the parts about ‘breaking trust’ or however it was phrased. I’d be surprised if it was just about him sleeping with this single gya with that comment, unless they had some strict internal agreements in place.
The statement that was already posted? I was expecting the other shoe to drop. Feels kinda wrong to place the blame at KD’s feet when they’re the slowest moving party in this fiasco.
Largely the former ones, who heard about others getting burned by him.
It would be different if the bulk of their paying fans were in Japan, and they could afford for foreign markets to be an afterthought. But for Fukuro…it really wasn’t. The majority of their paying customers were overseas fans, almost entirely on the currency of Yoshiatsu’s popularity from Dadaroma.
It’s why they had so many free lives. To try and get some kind of domestic fanbase going. They had some turnout at taibans, but nowhere near the kind of turnout they were able to secure in California or Europe. And the merch table? Not a lot of people lining up any time I saw them.
My read on it is that the DRUGS members (or at least some of them) are planning to do something without him. Since it’s his project, they can’t just continue without him.
As for how other bands will view the situation. I can see them looking into it, going “Oh, Yoshiatsu…” and dismissing it as him not covering his tracks or vetting booty calls properly.
Those who wouldn’t sign with Killing Daze (or VKbeats, or Envolprod) over this were probably not interested in trying overseas shows anyways.
Sucks cuz they were one of the few new VK bands that actually had my attetion. I hope Yoshiatsu figures his shit out and can somehow make amends with the people he’s hurt. Dude’s got talent, and it would be a shame for him to squander all of that on account of him being his own worst enemy.
I dunno how good this mindset is of forgiving people in theoretical futures.
Let time takes it turn and look ourself if he ever reappears if he is actually save to be around.
