Horror Movies

Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers
Pure filth and cheese, and one of those movies you just can’t help but love. Super fast-paced, over the top, cheese and sleazy. Nothing to not like here. Tits, blood, chainsaws, Gunnar Hansen and Linnea Quigley. High quality cheese!

You weren’t kidding! What an exceptional movie. Easily top list worthy for me too. Just…wow.

Killer Workout
The poster is basically a 10/10, but the movie sadly doesn’t live up to that. A simple slasher with a sweet setting that just isn’t utilized to its fullest. There’s lot of 80’s workout scenes, which fucking rules, but they miss out on a lot. The kills are mostly mediocre at best, and it moves around a bit too carefully. But it was alright, and the poster is fucking killer!

Death Spa, which is kinda similar, was hella lot better.

For a while I’ve been watching “American Horror Story” with my friend together. And I have to say it’s very solid done in contrast to most other cliche horror movies, in my opinion. Atm we’re at season 2 and I can say it’s also still really good, sometimes I have problems to understand everything but the more I watch it, the more I could understand it.

Vampire Circus
Classic early 70’s Hammer Horror flick that is nice and sleazy, very stylish and beautiful, and with proper nice and gloomy atmosphere. Although not the best Hammer Horror vampire flick, it’s absolutely fantastic and you can’t help but to love it.

The Giant Spider Invasion
Bill Rebane wasn’t a fantastic director, but he sure knew how to make great entertainment, and he must’ve loved his craft to death. This is top, top cheesy fun, and if you’re into great-bad flicks this is a must. Awesome!

Horror Rises from the Tomb
I’ve talked about Paul Naschy in the past, and here’s another one starring him. I just love Paul Naschy, and Paul Naschy + sleazy Euro-trash cinema goes hand in hand. It looks fantastic, but it plays like a over the top, sleazy Hammer Horror-esque movie. Well worth your time!

Bad Channels
Hilariously over the top, bad and cheesy Full Moon Features flick that is really bad, but in a really good and fun way. Surprisingly enough this is directed by Ted Nicolaou. He’s done loads that’s pretty bad and stuff, but he also did the masterpiece that is Subspecies and its fantastic sequels, and he also did cult favorites TerrorVision and The Dungeonmaster.

Nightmare Sisters
Super cheesy, low-budget horror comedy starring scream queens Linnea Quigley, Brinke Stevens and Michelle Bauer. It’s low-budget, not well-directed or well-acted, but it’s loads of fun. Super cheesy, dumb and over the top. Enjoyed it a lot!

I watched the live action movie of “Judge” recently, if that counts. It’s really bad.

They completely changed the story from the manga (the main character is supposed to be the sin of envy, but for some reason they randomly made him wrath? And it wasn’t to make him more sympathetic because they changed his story from killing his brother completely by accident to beating someone into a coma or something? Like, why?).

The only character who is actually interesting is the bear, and that’s probably because he’s the only one who actually kind of follows the manga. The film doesn’t really give you any reason to feel sorry for any of the others.

The fact that they’re killed through like a remote-activated poison in the movie also takes away a lot of the tension, because in the manga they make it clear that the killing is being done manually by someone who is locked in with them, and it doesn’t happen immediately after the vote, so there is some time where the losers get to try to think of a way out or guess who the killer is.

The only good thing about it is they got MAN WITH A MISSION to do the theme song, which is perfect.

Dr. Black, Mr. Hyde
Low-budget blaxploitation horror with a good cast that is, as you probably got from the title, based on Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. As a horror movie it’s kinda lacking, but as a blaploitation movie looking at themes such as racism, class and black power it’s very interesting, more than entertaining. It does the whole “good-black, bad-white" thing very well, and is surely worth a watch. But it’s not very entertaining to be fair.

Hobgoblins
Often considered one of the worst movies ever made, and a classic so-good-it’s-bad film. I agree with the latter, but don’t consider it among the worst movies ever. It’s low-budget and amateurish in every way possible, but it’s fucking hilarious and with loads and loads and loads of charm. An absolute gem of a movie if you ask me!

10 to Midnight
Classic Charles Bronson crime-horror that’s weird, gritty and just fucking awesome. It’s nice and violent, atmospheric, weird and over the top. This is a hidden gem that is well worth your time. Great film!

April Fool’s Day
A different type of slasher from the mid-90’s. Proper cult movie , and for a good reason. This is fun as hell, but not in your typical slasher-comedy way. This is a lot darker in its comedy, and is a bit deeper. Really cool and fun stuff, although I’d love to see better kills. That probably the big weakness of the movie, the lack of proper kills and violence. But it’s still really damn good.

Tower of London
A horror-infused drama by Roger Corman, starring none other than Vincent Price who is tremendous. It’s a bit too much drama for my taste, but Vincent Price is amazing, it’s well put together and is entertaining.

Creepozoids
Low-budget Alien rip off by David DeCoteau that’s really awesome. It stars Linnea Quigley and Ashlyn Gere, and while the quality of the film is overall pretty bad, it’s loads and loads of fun. Cheesy, sleazy and fun!

Peeping Tom
Released a few months before Psycho, and is often compared to it for good reason. But this is a lot darker, sinister and more twisted. It’s a genuinely creepy film with loads of atmosphere and nerve throughout, and a must if you’re into horror movies. Amazing film!

The Corpse Grinders
Top notch low-budget cheese from the early 70’s. It’s not good, but god is it loads of fun. Hilariously bad!

Schock
Mario Bava and his son Lamberto Bava worked together on this one and it turned out pretty good, but it’s not close to being the best they’ve done. I’d say it’s pretty mediocre by their standards, but still good and all. Some truly amazing scenes throughout.

The Girl Who Knew Too Much
The first true giallo movie made by none other than the master himself, Mario Bava. This is by no means a masterpiece, but it’s good and you can see a lot of the classic giallo elements in it, so it was an important film for the genre. It’s a bit too Hitchcockian for me. And despite being a very important movie, we gotta remember that Mario Bava himself returned just a year later with the seminal masterpiece Blood and Black Lace which is on a whole different level.

The Blood Spattered Bride
Slow-burning, erotic and bloody vampire movie with a very surreal and nightmarish atmosphere. Very different, and almost like Jean Rollin meets Hammer Horror of the time. Really cool and unique film.

Does being human us version count as horror? The UK version being stereotypical of standard British gloomy rainy thingamajig but the US version is actually a fun slice of life where a vampire a werewolf and a ghost try and live together, it’s got my favorite actor Sam witwer in it. He’s just perfect! Oh yeah horror movies are cool I guess.

Shakma
Re-watched this cult classic and it still holds up. It’s kinda silly and some of the acting is really stiff, but the setting and stuff are really cool, and the baboon is terrifying. Great film with an undeservedly bad rep. Deserves more than to be just a cult film.

I Blame Society
I heard loads of good about this and was really looking forward to it, but this was super disappointing. I get that it is satire and stuff, but the movie still has to be entertaining, and this sadly wasn’t. Pretty boring.

Trailer War
This is nothing more than a two hour long trailer war. Yeah, literally. Just a bunch of trailers to weird fucking horror/action/exploitation movies. I’ve seen the vast majority of the movie, and those I have not seen I will have to see. It’s just trailers, but it was really fucking fun. Loved this!

Rabid Dogs
This isn’t really a horror movie, but a super intense thriller made by God himself, Mario Bava. A minimalistic noir thriller which turns the intensity button all the way up to 11. It’s a wild fucking ride, and an absolute masterpiece. The ending is still among the very best endings to any movie. Sooooooo good and, for its time, original.

Chuck Steel: Night of the Trampires
Been looking forward to see this movie since I discovered the short film Raging Balls of Steel Justice a few years ago. And this did not disappoint! It’s an action horror comedy which pays massive homage to everything 80’s, from the action stars of the era, the action and buddy cop movies of its era and horror comedies of its era. And it nails all of it! It was hilarious and had me in tears several times throughout. So god damn funny! Masterpiece! Also, the animation is GORGEOUS! An absolute pleasure to look at.

Blades
A super silly Jaws parody from the late 80’s that works pretty well. It’s a tad too long, but it’s still loads and loads of fun. It was a nice watch for sure.

I also finished all the new episodes of Stranger Things, season 4, and July can’t come fast enough. Easily the best season since the first, and probably on par with it, and by far the darkest season. I’ve seen a lot of people complain about the kids getting older and it won’t work as well, but it really did. Truly excellent stuff!
I also love the fact that the length of the episode varies from 60 to 100 minutes or so. Amazing!

there was a movie I cant recall there was a scene where a man got injected with something after a fight or something and became part of the wall. His face surfacing out. Anyone know this?

Man, Terrifier 2 really lived up to the hype. The first Terrifier is a modern classic with the best motherfucking clown ever, and the second is as good if not better. Where as the first was a straight forward slasher, the new one moves into splatter territory with some of the coolest fucking deaths and special effects caught on cam in modern times. So fucking gory and brutal, but it’s also so over the top that it just becomes humorous at times, but without losing the evilness of what happens.

There is also this gorgeous segment in the film that carry a heavy Dario Argento (Inferno especially) vibe which both me and my girl (who is terrified of clowns btw) thought were just incredible.

The soundtrack is truly spot on too. Synthwave and very 80s, but it feels super genuine.

It’s close to 2.5 hours long, but when it was finished we just looked at eachother and asked if it was already finished. Man, those 2.5 hours went incredibly fast.

Fantastic film! Shame the first one never got the attention it deservea, but hopefully it will now because it truly deserves it.

Art the Clown is fucking terrifying and easily one of the best slasher villains of all time. So fucking good!!!

A truly wild movie for sure! I’m a big fan of the first one, so I had been waiting a long time to see what they’ll come up with now. It was pretty solid, even though I prefer the shorter runtime of the original. Still, lots of great stuff (it’s just that after so much over-the-top violence I got a bit tired towards the end, haha).

What?

More of a horror-comedy or thriller, but The Menu absolutely slapped. It approached its subject matter in a very thoughtful manner, and the lead performances were excellent. Ralph Fiennes does a great Gordon-Ramsay-Meets-Sensei-Kitano, and Anna Taylor-Joy is such a likable leading lady. Big recommend, made me laugh a lot and the lampooning of high-end dining culture was well-researched and implemented meaningfully.

dude i loved that movie! i work at a movie theater and there was a group of loud 13 year olds in the theater and i told my manager that was working that night and she told me they looked old enough, like they looked like middle schoolers babes

Holy fuck, this film was amazing! This is what you get if you mix Silent Night, Deadly Night, Tales From the Crypt episode “And All Through the House”, Hardware and The Terminator. It plays along and feels like a lost late 70’s/early 80’s movie, it’s beautifully shot, gorgeously scored and superbly written and acted. It’s a b-film alright, but the characters of Riley Dandy and Sam Delich is so dynamic and real, and their chemistry is just incredible. I was very impressed with Joe Begos’ horror-action movie “VFW” which is an homage to the grindhouse cinema of the 70’s and 80’s, but this was slightly better. So much fucking fun!

Christmas Bloody Christmas isn’t just the best Christmas movie of the year, but the best movie of the year. It was amazing! Hands down brilliant!

I also watched the action-comedy Violent Night, and it was pretty fun. Die Hard and Die Hard 2 meets White House Down/Olympus Has Fallen. It offers nothing exceptional, but it’s pretty fun overall and had a lot of blood and gore, which is always appreciated. Some fun jokes and shit too. Not exceptional, but solid.

Give me your spookiest movie! I want to feel terror, I want to feel helpless, feeling lost. Aand having a vivid imagination is a great attribute to experiencing scawy movies so give me your best movie! Or if you know any movies similar to the mist, frank darabont is so goddamn good.

P.s : no french or artsy japanese movies 7 hours of sleep is enough for me.
