Hi everyone,
I’m really interested in J-Rock & Visual Kei and would love to meet people who share this passion. Any tips on where to find Vkei lovers for dating? Thanks! ^-^
Hi everyone,

On JRO Tinder app ~kidding.
i have no idea!
As far as I know, I don’t know any dating mediums where the focus of meeting potential matches is based primarily on musical tastes.
Your best options are probably:
I’ve only ever met 1 girl that actually liked metal out of every match I got in the span of 5 years, and she was into stuff like Black Dahlia Murder. So, chances of finding someone really into vkei on that platform is probably even smaller.
If you meet a potential partner, convert them to vkei. Even if they never get really into themselves, if they listen to it with you and don’t mind it I’d say that’s a huge win.
I guess you could try and meet people on forums or even any live concerts. But, a) if you get close to someone, it might be difficult to figure out if they’re a compatible partner with you. Meeting someone on the web or in person for just a few hours won’t necessarily give you a good indication of someone’s character, and b) location will play a huge part on whether you may find it worth to invest into a relationship of this nature. I’ve heard of people meeting each other this way, but it rarely works out location being a big part of it.

My advice to you would be to try and meet someone who you connect with on other aspects first: Emotionally, physically, spritually, culturally, morally, intellectually, etc. And if they’re a good match for you, I think option 2 would be best. If they respect and care for you, they won’t have any issues listening to vkei with you regardless of their level of interest in it.
I can understand wanting to meet a partner with similar niche interests, but you risk cutting off a lot of potential connections that might end up being amazing if your search criteria is narrow. And vkei is one of the most niche interests out there. In my experience anyways.
You’ll always find plenty of platonic fans to discuss vkei bands and music with open arms. So share your passion with us/them! Good luck with your search though. If you ever find a definite answer to your own question do share with us all here.
never happened here… all my dates said “this music makes me feel crazy and mentally disturbed”
It ain’t for everyone! And those girls were not for you Delk. You deserve crazier!
boys u mean
Pardon me, boys!
Move to Japan → date a Bandoman!
No, on a more serious note, what everyone else already said is good advise. If you life in/near a city that is lucky and big enough to have some vk concerts that’s worth a try.
But in the end the most important thing is to find a partner who accepts that you have hobbies. And of course you need to accept that they have intrestes as well. If you vibe you will surely find something that you can enjoy toghether.
My bf loves X-Japan but all the “newer” stuff is not for him. (“I am old. I don’t get this modern stuff” …he’s a year younger than me but ok) But he is always helping me with getting tickets and happy for me when I had a good time. And I think that’s wonderful.
I am offended and I think they are so valid for this at the same time. But this begs the question, what the hell did you use to introduce them to VK? Dir en grey’s uncensored Obscure MV?
“this could be us but you’re too busy playing”
Everyone’s said what I was going to say, so I don’t have much to add!
May as well take a shot, 30 y/o male in Melbourne looking for women. I go to gym and therapy
DM me :^)
As a person who would want to find someone to date that has this interest. It’s very difficult to. As most have already mentioned, your best bet is to find someone who is open within their music tastes and like metal to some degree.
I’ve tried to look for just people in general who like vkei or know about it. Only met one or two people who knew about vkei prior to me speaking to them. Most I’ve spoke to never heard of it.
I did however realize that the gothic/emo or anime scenes would be your best chance to find someone who is at least interested in Japanese music or vkei since those are the scenes I’ve felt the most comfortable around and have shown that most of my music interests are aligned with.
I was wondering how to date a guy with similar tastes right until accidentally married a bandoman ahahah…
Find em’ early! I got together with my VK-loving wife when I was 20 and she was 19. We met through friends who also liked VK. Back then, she only liked Dir en grey, but I converted her to my gigantic catalogue of bands for 15 years now haha.
poor gurl!
Ahah it’s time for me to learn Japanese then
Come to Brazil! Don’t think there’s a bigger VK scene outside of Japan/US than here. xD
In the past I almost dated someone who shared not only my fav vk band but also my favorite song of theirs 0/10 can’t advise against that enough, in fact I wish I had dated a swiftie instead
Jokes aside (its not) +1 to everyone else
I stopped listening to Darren Gray for years bc I came to associate a lot of my favorite songs of theirs with my ex-girlfriend.
So…at your discretion, I guess!
nothing crappy. Only the soft to wild bands. They said “Plastic Tree is just a normal indie band” “dir en grey just copies metal / western rock bands” "sug, phantasmagoria and lolita23q and so on “disturbinig music sounds”, i guess is because the japanese voice is kind of "weird to me " "
this kind of quotes lol, but overall is the same “crazy music and i feel mentally disturbed after hear this kind of music”
im in tears imagining someone watching Love Scream Party or ViViVi by SuG and being mentally disturbed SKSKSKSKSJD like they’re just so. colorful. even i, someone who was terrified of takeru for 2 years, loved it???
of course, we’re all entitled to different opinions but to flat out dismiss it as “disturbing crazy music” is simply Wild to me
