Is Yoshiatsu being irresponsible with his fans?

Whats going on with yoshiatsu?

https://x.com/Mi_o_o_fficial/status/2072027151025443217?s=20

Here’s a thread with all of the Instagram screenshots.

Basically, a teenage fan posted a testimonial of sorts on Instagram saying that her ex-friend, who was on student exchange in Japan, had a “relationship” I suppose, with Yoshiatsu. It was a lot of messaging each other back and forth on Instagram and Telegram, with them meeting once for sex in March, allegedly.

I say this, because the friend has yet to come forward and give her side of the story. She had just turned eighteen in between the time when her and Yoshiatsu first started messaging and when they met for sex. She entrusted the OOP with screenshots of their conversations and pictures of Yoshiatsu that she took when they were out in public. The OOP claims that Yoshiatsu was emotionally abusive and believes that he groomed her ex-friend which led to her abusing drugs and alcohol and getting her kicked from her program.

Some of these screenshots do not paint Yoshiatsu in a particularly good light. He seems aware that this is a person with self esteem issues who lacks life experience, and at one point even says “I don’t care about your age but if you’re too young, then it’s a crime, so don’t tell me”.

The OOP admits to messaging Yoshiatsu themselves to try and tell him to stop making their friend upset, and they started gradually falling out with each other because the friend didn’t want OOP meddling in their thing with Yoshiatsu. They then claim that an entirely different person messaged Yoshiatsu, trying to claim that the friend was only 16 (they were in fact 18), and this caused Yoshiatsu to get angry and break it off with her.

So of course, this caused a huge backlash in such a short amount of time. With people trying to call for Drugs to expel Yoshiatsu and calling for guys like Kyuho, Tsuzuku amd Wataru to stop associating with him.

They claim that they had testimonies from other victims, but those details weren’t posted before the initial Instagram page got taken down.

I’m 90% sure the “testimonies from other victims” are old Tanuki stories. The stories about Yoshiatsu on Tanuki have been not just bad, but consistently bad in the same ways (choking people without their consent, the stealthing which the OP mentions) which makes me think there’s some truth to them.

Still, this whole thing is so fucking messy and I hate how people are using the term “pedophilia” here. Words do in fact mean things and if this is true, then he’s a shitty human being absolute minimum, but he hasn’t committed a crime. Things can be shitty and immoral without being illegal. I’m also just… hmmm. About the fact that it wasn’t the victim who came forward, but their friend. I’d really like to hear the victim’s side of the story.

Can we get some screenshots?

I don’t know how to feel about this all bc I reallly like his music, but this is not a first time Yoshiatsu is involved in something like that and doesn’t help that he’s kinda encouraging parasocial behavior from fans, so maybe a situation like that was just a matter of time.

I’m gonna wait this one out if there’s gonna be more info to this story.

So their friend posted it on Instagram and then what, a third person aired it out via screenshots on Twitter?

You know, the story is important as cautionary tale, but the way this got posted absolutely doesn’t sit right with me.

Yeah, it’s a real game of telephone at this point.

Yoshiatsu is not a pedophile. Barely. He waited until she was 18. He likes them way too young and someone needs to teach him about the Formula - half your age plus seven, and it works for all ages 18 and older - but I can’t call him a pedophile over this. You actually gotta crack while she’s 17 or younger to earn that title. He just preordered some pussy.

(38 / 2) + 7 = 26

Why are you looking at 18 year olds?

Same here. I’d like to hear from Chole. Yoshiatsu doesn’t sound like a good person based off these details, but OP also has a vested interest in tearing Yoshiatsu down.

I’d say he’s dancing around that line. The convos between them started when she still was 17 and he didn’t wanna know about her age to net get in trouble. So he’s aware of that. He’s aiming for as young as possible to not get in trouble with the law. Which yeah, pedophile ain’t the perfect word but regarding he’s just waiting long enough with the actual action, well, he’s very very close and I can understand why people use that word, even though it’s not the correct term (I don’t say, it’s right they use it, it’s not, but I can understand why though, and I think it’s important to emphasize that because just dismissing the term easily makes the situation seem like she was not just an adult in legal terms for a short time but rather an adult with life experience).

That’s why I said:

This is definitely suspicious and he has opened himself up to scrutiny.

Honestly, the age difference increases the creep factor for sure, and the way it was shared makes it extra messy, but this kind of a power dynamic is inherently always always such a bad idea. I hate that social media has made it so much more accessible, I hoped it was getting less common.

It just doesn’t lead to anything good to get romantically / sexually involved with your idols, whatever the reason or context.

It’s painful to read the texts.

This sucks, and Yoshiatsu sucks. But it was not her place to expose her friend like this, it was not her story to tell.

It also makes it much easier for Yoshiatsu to defend against it, if he chooses to respond.

He can just say “this was a malicious retelling of events from someone who wasn’t there and doesn’t know the full story. They are spreading lies about both me and the other person. Please do not believe their lies :folded_hands: “

I respect yoshi as a musician as he’s very talented but i always did get a weird feeling about him. He’s a very sexual person which itself aint bad but i had a feeling something like this wasn’t far off honestly.

1 ) rude af from the friend to talk in the name of the actual girl wtf ? seems like it was done more for attention than anything ( even tho obviously the subject is important and need to be talked about ). If i read well ( the texts are long and confusing ) she even said rude things about her at the end :l why are you as a 3 rd part so invested into the whole thing to the point of sharing a story that isn’t yours to the world to see.

2 ) bbgirl actually thought they were in a " relationship " and poisoned herself and put herself into depression for a unc who’s most likely have been dumping his crusty fry somewhere else everytime they weren’t together… but that’s a 18 yo for ya. That’s why being 18 doesn’t mean the person is mature enough to take certain decisions and is still overall vulnerable.

3 ) i could say almost every !!! vk dude i have in mind seems overall bratty and not mature for their age and toxic, but Yoshiatsu in particulalr !! ( and specially since his cringy ass posts on IG ) is and have always been on the top of the list. I can’t believe ppl on twitter saying things like " my heart huuuurts i’m sooo disappointed that Yoshiatsu turned out to be like that " gurl !!!

So this is what he was going on about a few weeks ago with the Instagram posts saying “I’m only interested in adults! People who do that to kids are awful”

Fucking trying to get in front of the whole thing. Probably why he asked people to stop harassing Kyuho.

I can’t believe there are people trying to defend this just because she magically hit 18. I mean, I can believe it because some people are dense as hell. I had the same kind of thing happen to me, it’s gross.

Fucking sucks. I mean, I knew he had a past, and I wanted to believe that he had been changing for the better. But ever since he started the band Drugs I noticed him acting out more and more and it made me uncomfortable.

I guess some folks really don’t change.

I doubt he’d listen but hopefully someone close to him can get him to understand why this is super not ok.

Pre Yoshi stories i would’ve been surprised; after reading what he’s voluntarily chosen to write publicly now seeing these all i can think is “yeah, okay”

Kinda cooked his own case with the “send me fetish photos, women only plz, wait i promise i don’t mean minors” trilogy

Anyway i feel like the pdf or no is a bit of an unnecessary and distracting binary; i’m more curious about was power/influence/social positioning used to hurt someone; i’m not really only basing my opinion on if a crime was committed or not as there’s plenty of harms and abuse that can be done following laws to the letter

Now that I’ve had an entire day to process this, I think more than anything else, I’m angry. I’m angry at Yoshiatsu for winning the “Not Technically A Pedophile” award, I’m angry at myself for being surprised about this even though I’d said before to a friend something along the lines of “I like Yoshiatsu as an artist, but I would not want to be alone in a room with him”. And I’m angry about how we found out about this, especially.

There are probably reasons that Cholo hasn’t publicly shared what happened between her and Yoshiatsu. In my opinion, these sorts of stories belong to the people they happened to, and not to anyone else. I, myself, am a victim of abuse (though not by a public figure). I, myself, have not shared the full details of what happened to me to anyone outside of a couple of my absolute closest friends. If I found out that one of them was spreading it around because they thought my abuser needed to “face justice” or something, I would hit the fucking roof. That is not your story to tell. That is not your decision to make.

(rant about people with savior complexes towards other people in “bad” relationships excised for space/excessive editorializing)

Everyone saying this is not the OPs story to tell are raising a very valid point i hadn’t considered enough.
