I’ve never been able to get into the vibe of Mazohist of Decadence. That song bores me terribly. Not a big fan of Sunstain the untruth and several songs from MARROW OF A BONE whose LIE BURIED WITH A VENGEANCE, DISABLED COMPLEXES, REPETITION OF HATRED, THE DEEPER VILENESS.
Reading these has been a wild experince, but it just goes to show how interesting and varied their discography is. For example Hotarubi might be my favourite song of theirs, and I have a really soft spot for MISSA and it’s noisy drums.
I remember being rather disappointed in MoaB when it came out, so much so I didn’t focus on their next few albums at the time as it really made me lose interest. I like some/most of MoaB now, but a few of the songs have lyrics I really dislike. Overall I guess I’m not the biggest fan of their “nu-metal” times (Vulgar and MoaB most of all, yes i know i know).
Is it bad if I say that I think all dir en grey songs that are heavyer are bad? Basically dir en grey is an awful substance to put in my ears. No hate to people who like the music though
Missa – S, because after all these years I still can’t remember anything about it.
Gauze – Mazohyst of Decadence, unnecessarily long. The remake is better
Macabre – Audrey, cuz fuck that repetitive ass main riff
Kisou – Jessica, wtf is this doing on here?
Six Ugly – Ugly drags for way too long
Vulgar – Child Prey, should have been like two minutes shorter
Withering to Death – Jesus Christ R n R is goofy as hell
The Marrow of a Bone – The Deeper Vileness, there’s just something… corny about this and it’s nowhere near as heavy as the band thinks it is
Uroboros – Bugaboo, I don’t like the double time section. That riff is too goofy and squonky
Dum Spiro Spero – Decayed Crow, more squonky riffing
The Unraveling – Kasumi, literally NO ONE thinks Kyo needed to croon over that riff
Arche – Midwife, MORE squonky bullshit
The Insulated World – Honestly? I love the whole thing
Phalaris – Oboro, it doesn’t belong on this album at all. The mix stands out, and it’s poorly placed
Mortal Downer – I like Bloodline, but I think some sparkly guitar work à la Die would have elevated it quite a bit. As it is it gets lost amongst the other heavy tracks.
I actually love midwife and Jesus rock and roll.
Midwife hardly has any memorable part but I find it a perfect example of the more experimental side of dir en greys songwriting.
Jesus Rock and Roll has a lot of catchiness while also having enough in the riff department.
Sorry… I didn’t add the whole Mortal Downer album to my playlist. First time ever it has happened with a deg album, not even one song that really stands out. They also have many boring filler songs on most of their albums (like most bands have). But hm.. that domestic fuker family song is truly awful.
it was one of those ‘older’ jrock songs i’d blare in my room as loud as i could. it’s fun idk the lyrics since i never looked them up but i have fond memories of it. so to say it’s the worst on the album? lol alright y’all
Child Prey? Sure, but its still a bit catchy even if the chorus is kind of cheesy. People saying Child Prey must be trolling because DeG has so many ultra boring filler songs on their albums, that don’t even have choruses or any melody.
