Houyoku is sooooo good. I tend to prefer their heavier stuff, but there’s just something about it. I think it’s my favourite album of theirs.

Miya and Yukke in this annual shrine bean-throwing ceremony at Ishioka city

(常陸國總社宮 節分追儺祭豆まき式)

This year they dressed as salary man haha.

here a video of them putting their heads in a traditional Oni mouth https://x.com/m_m_3869/status/2018566700841787655?s=20

Looks like this year some fans learnt and actually behaved. The event went smoothly

What happened…haahaha

Also this is so fun! Iirc it happens every year because they are like representatives of the ibaraki pref.

Last year, some fans misbehaved, ruining an important part of the event. During one segment, all the representatives, including the shrine monk and the city mayor, went up onto a elevated platform to give speeches and throw snacks to the audience as part of the ritual. Attendees usually brought boxes or bags to collect the snacks, but on this occasion, fans arrived with butterfly catchers and similar objects to block others and ensure that all the snacks Miya and Yukke threw were for themselves.

It was very disrespectful, especially since many children and families attended the event to receive blessings. The situation escalated to the point that the band had to apologize to the shrine and the mayor and explicitly ask their grown-ass fans on social media to behave.

Incidents aside, yes! both Miya and Yukke are part of the local promotion of the city, many stores have mucc posters or merch as decorations.

To relive this a little… which songs you think are their most underated/forgoten ones? Those that you like a lot but they barely play them live and ppl seems to have forgot about them?

Ill start with “Sōshin no Koe” (双心の声) and “Kugatsu Mikka no Kokuin” (9月3日の刻印) from Zekuu. I have always liked 双心の声 a lot, despite not really fitting at all in the album… but I fill it could have been one of the J. Davis songs fror the Queen of the Damned OST. And what to say about 9月3日の刻印…

“Ayatori” (あやとり) from Aishuu…I hate they didnt play this on the 20th annyversary lives at the Budokan…

“Oyoge! Taiyaki-kun” (およげ!たいやきくん) from Homura Uta despite been a version since its in an official release…I would expect them to have played it a bit more.

“Semishigure” (蝉時雨) from Shion, I remember when it appeared in the Live bootleg series #2 as a “left over” of Gokusai everyone was very excited about it…but has been totally forgoten after that.

From B-sides, “Samidare” (五月雨), “Hakanakutomo” (儚くとも) , “Bokura no Kage”
(僕等の影), etc. many of their B-sides are better that their A-sides…
I’m sure Im missing many as they have so many songs..

i think that might be a copyright issue, since it’s a cover?

I think there wouldnt be any copyright issue to play live a cover (though Japan can have more strict meassures). I guess maybe doesnt fit the setlits for them…its a shame as is one of those homura uta “crazy” songs that are nice to listen to.

I remember that suimin from homura uta or Isho from Kuchiki no tou were not popular but… relevant? like 15 years ago but now not anymore ~ they barely played them and are part of my all time favourites.

“Semishigure” (蝉時雨) from Shion, I remember when it appeared in the Live bootleg series #2 as a “left over” of Gokusai everyone was very excited about it…but has been totally forgoten after that.

All Shion has a special place in my heart. Most of its B sides are so nice to listen to.

Their yellow monkey cover song is so so soo good. I keep going back to it.

Bouzenjishitsu is an expected song for them to play at lives, I remember seeing it in a setlist from their last tour, so there’s a probability to hear it at the Paris festival, if youre planning to attend.

kugatsu mikka no kokuin is probably still my favorite mucc song

it’s tough to beat

I play that exact live of Bouzenjishitsu on my gym days to get me hyped! It’s the best pre workout.

If I recall correctly Isho is like they/Miya got drained with it due to the topic and dont really want to play it that much…Isho, Akatsuki Yami, Daremo, Mikan no kaiga, Kuchiki no tou, Oboreru sakana…but for some reason they really like Namonaki Yume :upside_down_face: (nothing against it…but for me is far from the best tracks of the album)
