MUCC (ムック)

akatsuki yami is one of my faves, so good. it must be incredible to hear live!

I guess they still play it because it has the dark/gloomy vibe of the album, but it’s generally a very positive song.

I really vibe with betsusekai, just the moody feel the bass lines gives.

Bouzen as well, the aggressiveness in it is perfection.

Also the crowd surfing in this live and JP lives overall seem so aggressive, its just people rolling over than a coordinated effort keeping them up:sob:. Love the energy it brings tho.

I find it hard to find songs that are “forgotten” because with Timeless they’ve remembered most of them, but excluding Timeless era revival:

Aoi mori! So underrated. The beginning with the howling like vocals makes you feel like you are actually in a forest. It’s heavy, slow build up, but it has a poppy/melodious ending.

Semishigure, totally! It has already been mentioned. I kept listening to the live version when it was still unreleased. Perfect song, so melancholic.

Sora to ito/Ageha: These were their lead tracks, I feel, around the time when they were released, but they don’t seem to play them at all anymore. Especially Sora to ito is usually not on their setlist anymore. They share the vibe with Aoi mori. They blend the nu metal approach with their own style and it’s a perfect mix somehow.

Gerbera: Ryuusei and Gerbera kind belong together in my mind. They have a similar vibe in different ways. While they play Ryuusei quite frequently (?), Gerbera is often forgotten. I just like how dynamic the song is. Reminds me a lot of Saishuu ressha with a twist.

Most of Houyoku: Saishuu ressha, Ame no orchestra and Kokoro no nai machi seem to be on their mind still. Also Mukashi kodomo datta hitotachi e re-appeared when Satochi left the band. It’s probably my favorite album by them. Kagayaku sekai is sooo atmospheric and gloomy, Saru and Akasen are quite aggressive, 1R is sad, Mukashi kinda hopeful and the part from Tonbi to Kumo is PERFECT. Tonbi feels like a bad gut feeling. Something is coming up. Oh, it’s rain coming up: Ame no orchestra. Flowing into Komorebi (which describes sun flickering through trees/the leaf) makes it feel like the rain is gone, the sky is clearing up. Kumo (spider) makes me feel experience the wet fields and forest where spiders are coming out of their hiding spots lol. Monster, Tsubasa and Shadan are insanely strong tracks too.

Honorable mentions: Chain ring, Concrete 082, Kanaria, Akanezora, G.M.C, Kataribe no uta, Shisei, mei ari, Gareki no tori, Isola, Negative dancer.

That being said:
MOTHER is not underrated but definitely forgotten. I’m still convinced it was only recorded for Naruto. Considering how other bands emphasize their Naruto OPs/EDs, it’s funny how MUCC barely played MOTHER at all. I also don’t like it a lot to be honest.

Kumachan, and of course everyone - what would you say is their best ballad, or a top 3? I still hold “feather/hane” very high.

Fun that the Mucc topic is active!

Are Ryuusei and Hakanakutomo ballads? LOL

No seriously, I think my most played might be Hane and Ame no orchestra. Tsubasa and Oboreru sakana are pretty strong too though!

Can we count Danzetsu, Kaeranu Hito, Haruka, Chiisana mado, Tsuki no sakyuu
or Sanbika as ballads? Besides the mentioned ones… with so many years and releases they have a hell of catalogue for all kind of moods… I guess thats why when we see some of their last weaks released we feel disappointed, we all know what the are capable of.

Kagerou from Kyuutai might be my favorite MUCC song. It’s one of my favorite vocal performances by Tatsurou, and I love the way the song builds into this huge emotional release with the final chorus.

Am I the only one who thinks Semishigure is such a hidden gem? How it builds up for the final climax chorus is so fking epic!

They’ve announced their support drummers for their upcoming tour dates.

This is the situation I was hoping they could avoid… Maybe since they dont have a busy schedule ahead yet, they are going slow-cautious on finding the new support member.

Yeaaa, this is not the best situation.

Yasuo is only a support drummer at the moment, so I could see him join full time.

The ex alexandros guy also only seems to be active in his solo project (?) rn.

The only one who won’t join them for a longer time would be Natsu, I guess. Maybe for the first two, it’s kind of a try out session to see if they vibe?

Maybe Natsu is the only one with passport and ready to go abroad :joy:

But for sure they need some trial to see if the new support member can handle Tatsuro or Yukkes humor or Miya’s weirdness

Another band to Natsus bio lol, Tatsuya from Crossfaith would be cool to see here since it doesn’t look like they’re reforming anytime soon. But guessing Yoasobi and TK duties keep him busy.

I’m not concerned. They have to keep the ball rolling and this is a chance to put some people that could be candidates to the test. They seem confortable as a 3 member band with supports though so I can see them going on like this with a more stable lineup of supports, maybe.

Now that you mention it, someone on reddit translated their interview book “Timeless” recently where they speak about it

And also the Shounen M from 2017:

Ohh that covers pretty much half of a year.

Yeah I think there should be a chemistry or good work flow with the guys and not only to have the technical skills.

Next year is going to be their 30th anniversary :coffin: so I’m sure they are planning stuff from now and making sure there’s a good candidate to fit well for a mid or long term

Oh wow. Never thought I’d see the day. Thanks for posting!

EDIT: my bad, didn’t realize there were multiple Shounen Ms. I was thinking of the 2007 one. Still, really looking forward to reading!
