laughed when I saw the “new band DRUGS has formed” thread title. Wasn’t going to even click on it but then thought for a laugh I wanted to see what these guys “DRUGS” looked like lol. Didn’t like their look, but then clicked the video also just for a laugh “oh allright I’ll click on it”. Didn’t like it, then noticed it’s Tsu on vocals. Man, massively disappointing to see him come out of the legal entanglements or whatever it was keeping him out of VKEI, only to do really corny uninspired junk like this. Honestly he comes off like a bad Tsu fanboi wannabe. That’s what I thought it was at first but then was like ‘oh sh!t that’s actually him?!’

Listened again to see what dir en grey song this reminded me of and yeah it’s definitely mazohyst of decadence, just sped up a bit.
I am also really curious about Yoshiatsu on drums. I figure he may have been getting lessons from his bud Lotto… That said there’s something about it. Like. Drums sound a little too good for someone who just started drumming recently. I wonder who composed.

it is low key funny how everyone has another definition of what is unoriginal because I don’t see it here at all. Already the fact to make your first single in the VK scene a dissonant slow/middle tempo track with no usual melodic refrain is already bold enough of a move to be origin

This is a terrible influence in the scene. I can’t help but be disappointed. For all this talent, the product should not be so garbage. And to be so overt about it is crazy to me. They proved they were good, so why purposely do something that doesn’t even capture the essence of Vkei? I was never really a fan of Mejibray, Dadaroma, or Liphlich but at least I can’t say they didn’t make good songs. AND the guitarist was in Zoro?! This song is actually bad per Vkei standards. If it was some Western metal song, or a song by a band just entering the scene, I would shrug and move on. But for people so established, other artists in the scene will definitely pay attention. I would hate if they follow this simple-minded style. What really gets me is that they KNOW they’re going to trigger a new cycle in the scene—the song is literally called “New Order.” It really disappoints me that people are eating it up just because of who is in the band. The fact that these people already proved themselves yet decided to make THIS of all things is actually one of my main sources of disappointment. This pleasure-oriented type of Vkei presents a far too simple worldview. I don’t go to Vkei for simplicity; that’s what mainstream culture is for. This is terrible.
