This has to be their worst release
Mickey is definitely inspired by the golden age of grotesque era of manson
The EP has the most accurate title possible so I think we have to take the L if we expected more.
I feel like Kyo needs to shut the fuck up for a year or two and contemplate life on top of Fuji or something because I canāt take his 40 shades of mumble anymore.
And thatās not a dog-band problem, itās the same with DEG and sukekiyoā¦ itās like heās play-acting the shit out of all these songs and simultaneously manages to convey no real emotion. He seems so tired. Or maybe Iām tired.
This!!! My buddy and i have been discussing his kinda outta control spiral, and he definitely seems like hes doing MUCH too much.
Time for another poem book.
He needs a fourth band to inspire his way out of this creative rut.
He can do it, donāt joke! He might make an Idol band the next time just to stick to her latest maid look.
Love this new EP
Big fan of this one after my first listen. Mickey is probably my favorite track of theirs yet. The only miss for me is Move, I wish theyād drop the electronic stuff.
Iāve been trying for a long time to like this project but they make it very difficult for me. Iāll be very pop.
I didnāt like the mini album, it has some interesting touches, but Kyo just screams, Yukihiro makes his typical anoying beeps, and Miya produces music with every tone he can think of.
I donāt understand how Kyo can do this and at the same time how brilliant Sukekiyo is for me (my favorite band of the genre).
Iām angry
All this negativity is amplifying the h y p e for me
dog band is like a river - ceaselessly flowing in one single direction, and occasionally the city comes along to illegally dump waste in it.
I will say that this band is most interesting when theyāre leaning into their electronic sound, which they do a bit here. Iād get on board with them much more of they embraced that more thoroughly.
Mikey is fun but not enough to justify the other 6 songs. We just need kyo to sing again.
Iām quite disappointed with this band too. Their sound is too messy and without true variety.
I see this band like a punching bag for Kyo or he leaves his creativity aside.
The problem with Kyo, throughout his career, is he tries to do too much and it gets old quick. His lack of vocal and self control really hampers his ability and has done so for years.
Back in the day he could only sing half the lyrics in a given song because he was too busy screaming all over the place.
And then it was the screechy inward screaming that ruined his vocal cords
And then it was the cringey monk chanting
And then it was the falsettoās which he could rarely pull off live
And now weāre in the phase of the garbled scream.
Kyo needs to learn when to shut the fuck up. The 2 best examples of this is the Kasumi remake, and that awful song on Phalaris where he goes āWHAAAAA AAAHAHHH AHHHHH AH AH AHHHHHā.
Like, dude, calm down.
Remember everyone, itās called Seven Garbage Born of Hatred, not Seven AOTY Born of Hatred.
Yeah, they went for an live sounding ep, and thatās what we got. Like every single time when a band tries to capture that live feel, it sounds like garbage on the recording. Those songs are very hollow on the cd cause they were made with the stage in mind. When we get some live clips weāll get the real vibe of those songs
My first impression towards this album rivals the disappointment a teacher feels when she hands the class genius their test back face-down. I donāt really expect much from PuchiBra and this release does nothing to adjust those expectations. I think a lot of the issue is Kyo, but let me dig into that in a few paragraphs.
This is the very definition of a band where the parts are worth more than the sum, and if you put a gun to my head, I really couldnāt tell you why this band doesnāt excite me. If I could, it would imply that the core problem can be fixed. It has Kyo, it has Miya, it has fucking antz, this should just work, and yet every track is just missing something. Something is just not being translated from the live experience to CD.
A lot of this album doesnāt inspire me. āmoveā has to be the limpest excuse of an album opener Iāve ever heard, taking way too long to deliver nothing of substance. It could have been eliminated and the release more focused for it. ādub drivingā came and went without making much of an impression on me, and halfway through āBATMANā and I can barely remember what it sounded like, but it didnāt suck. I still feel the same way about āa humble borderā almost a year later: completely undecided, but once again, not bad!
Now let me touch back on a point I raised earlier: Kyo. Of course, there are other members in this band, but he takes center stage and his mere existence invites comparisons to Dir en grey and sukekiyo. This band so desperately wants to be itās own thing, but it canāt get out from underneath the shadow of the other two bands. Iām compelled to compare everything they do to these other two bands, and the comparisons always come up unfavorable.
This is why I didnāt feel much until āē¼å ā, whose chorus hits tones reminiscent of MUCCās āéćę£®ā. This is a distinct sound that Iām not getting from either band currently. āMickeyā is also kinda fun! Also, does anyone else feel like a different track other than āVendettaā should have come last? The song ends like āyeah weāre done nowā and leaves the whole mini feeling unfinished.
Last point of contention: many have mentioned that the band was going for a ālive soundā with this album. They missed, and let me tell you why: itās missing the AITR feeling. AITR stands for āAmp In The Roomā - itās the physical sensation of a cab displacing air. This cannot be easily replicated on CD. It feels like the mids are scooped, as if I am listening to it live, but Iām not getting that AITR feel. The music isnāt pounding my eardrums or rattling my chest, even if I turn my speakers up.
Hereās a song that I believe captures AITR much more effectively. If the entire album sounded raw like this, maybe I would be a little kinder.
I guess Iāll keep an eye on them and future activities. Maybe. Iām really not sure.
He has never done inhaled (or inward) screams. Has done some inhaled noises as sound effects but certainly not harshly or frequently enough to be the cause of his vocal issues. The whistle screams are exhaled.
The monk chanting is great. The ātadaakadaā part of Otogi is great and one of the best parts of the song and album.
Etc.
Bad post.
