You might be onto something here, a new band might just be what he needs right now.
Honestly, this is a pretty fun EP. At least I found it kinda comparable to their previous one, which I also enjoyed. Nothing amazing but each song had something that nicely tickled my brain. It was also fun to find inspirations/influences in the riffs and song segments (although âdub drivingâ was kinda distracting cuz I kept thinking of this song the entire time, lol).
Very lively and energetic musically, my two criticisms would just have to be:
- please guys, please write some catchier stuff next time, I know you have it in you!
- Kyo, my dude, please do some clean melodies, it worked in the past, it can work now.
At the end of the day, Iâm still more excited and entertained by whatever this project puts out than anything DEG released in the past decade so thereâs that at least.
Bruh this pizza needed more time in the oven. I think the most glaring issue with this album is that most of their songs sound like they took the first handful of jam sessions and moved forward with full production.
For example, you canNOT tell me everybody in the band thought 0:50 on âdub drivingâ is high quality work. It sounds like a placeholder as if they were meant to add something interesting in another session but they just said âtoo much work, just print itâ. I like straightforward song writing, but what these tracks lack is polish and creativity.
Kyo doesnât bother me that much to be honest since they made it pretty clear what direction heâs approaching this from with their first album. The songwriting in general is just barebones. It doesnât feel like they spent time exploring everyoneâs parts and seeing how they could weave things together in interesting ways.
This project just feels like the band members needed to detox song concepts theyâve been thinking about for the past 10 to 15 years but didnât want to really work hard on. Itâs fine if they needed an outlet to get old ideas out without wanting it to be some big time sink, but they selling merch out the wazoo with pizza trays, pizza boxes, etc.
Maybe large brabancon wouldâve worked better for them.
The monk chanting is awful and youâre a bad person for liking them.
Also, why did you change your name?
It was literally the best thing to come out of the Uroboros era. My being a bad person has nothing to do with recognizing this fact.
New me, new name.
Counterpoint: Kyo bringing out Reiketsu Nariseba/Juuyoku chanting would make Petit Brabancon feel 1000% more cyberpunk whether you like it or not, which seems to be the vibe theyâre going for.
Iâm all in for more Monk Chanting. Otogi rules
A purge this EP, i only appreciate Gankou. the rest is âgarbageâ like the title of their EP. Kyo doesnât sing, he bellows all along.
Otogi is one of the best DeG songs in the last decade for me.
Back to the 7garbages, man. I didnât really know what I expected with this release but I was at least hoping to get a memorable song out of it.
When it comes to dog band, I mostly only revisit Fetish. I know that album has a lot of hate, and it took me time to warm up to, but for me it had the most likable tracks. Besides that album, the only newer songs I listen to more than twice are Surely, A Praying Man, Obey, and Kodou.
This release just doesnât have much interesting for me. I might warm up to Gankou, but I honestly laughed out loud when I heard the Nirvana intro.
- Move somehow reminded me of TMNT2K3: Battle Nexus OST, so that was a pleasant surprise. And, at least it was slightly more engaging than mind-blow
- I usually dig with antzâ output in Puchibra and dub driving is no exception. Pretty nice momentum with funky drumming, explosive MtH-esque chorus (which, alas, appear too sudden) & DUB DRIVING gang-vocal part just fills me with joy.
- Indifferent towards BATMAN. Perhaps we memed too much about it, which raised my expectations a lot.
- My libido gankou needo⌠Yeah I lolâd during the intro. Verses are your usual boring Miya stuff. Still, that chorus elevates this song amongst the rest of his songs.
- a humble border is the best song on this release. Dumb&fun, cheesy synths mixed with loud drums, overall higher tempo compared to the rest of EP. Yep, thatâs what I usually like from Puchibra
- dumbified swing in Mickey, surewhynot. Perhaps I would prefer them using different guitar tone since it overpowers EVERYTHING. Still, it is dumb&fun, so thereâs that.
- Vendetta can kick rocks. Cheap âDonât Forgetâ knock-off that also serves as an awful way to end EP.
Also overall thoughts about members:
- Kyo, pls, check your throat or stfu
- Let antz and yukihiro write more stuff, their stuff is more unique/enjoyable at least
- MiyaâŚjust leave.
I feel some people desperately are trying find positive things to say about this album, jk I also did that at first but this is just pure trash imo. Not even one song felt memorable with a well put together melody-chorus/or something I want to listen to again⌠which is pretty impressive considering the members. I wish they would just drop this what feels like a cursed project at this point.
If a new band dropped this exact same album, I wonder if absolutely anyone would care at all. Harsh maybe but I doubt it.
- Worst mixing Iâve heard in some time.
- Kyo has never sounded this bad before.
GarbageâŚ
Set apart Gankou, A humble border is also listenable, itâs true.
Yeah, i actually believe that this is his worst release of all his bands combined. The alchemy doesnât not work from these members. Personally, i was never convinced by the line-up especially Miya who no longer shines like before with Mucc.
âWorstâ is quite a strong (and risky) word to be used.
Dramatic reactions aside, @Jigsaw made a valid comment imho - this record is a pretty fun release indeed when you consider how all of them came to be together (this is not even a superband - a hobby band for big mainliner members, if you will).
There is indeed nothing amazing to be noted, but at least we get to know what certain members would fancy given more liberties in their songwriting.
And to add to these valid points:
- please guys, please write some catchier stuff next time, I know you have it in you!
- Kyo, my dude, please do some clean melodies, it worked in the past, it can work now.
- Please give your bassist a chance to write something as well!
That motherfucker is in The Novembers. You cant tell me that he & antz couldnt write some bomb ass noisy nu metal with those gazy tinges. The group shouldnât be this disappointing.
Also, yeah +1 for âKyo should shut the fuck up.â
I have not been following this band but wasnât their whole schtick that their music would be an homage to nu metal. Iâm just listening to the EP on Spotify and itâs boring as fuck. Given the talent behind it, I genuinely donât understand who this caters for.
The way they seemed to just purposely go out of their way to craft any actual hooks or melody in this thing is kind of astounding. Going for a live sound isnât the issue here, itâs the completely dull song writing. Like Iâm not the biggest fan of this band at all, but I enjoyed something from every release to date. Until now. This wouldnât even be acceptable as a collection of outtakes.
Maybe the concept of this album was to create the worst album ever⌠? I mean they even name it â Seven garbage⌠', they tried to prepared listeners.
Yeah from what I understand Miya composes a majority of the songs. The otherâs songwriting I donât know much about, except that they are terrible at it, at least in this project.
As a Mucc fan I have personally come to expect a certain quality of his writing. Even non Mucc fans I think can agree that Miya is talented, as a recent recommendation please check out âmucc 99â on YouTube.
So it doesnât surprise that the songs that in general are considered to be this bands best ones - koku, kawaki and kodou all are Miya. And all those songs of course could be regular Mucc songs.
But even he makes we wonder wtf he is doing with writing so many other bad, absolutely terrible songs as well. So many bad ones.
But yeah congrats to the guys for easily creating one of the worst releases of the year mmmm
