Petit Brabancon - Seven Garbage Born of Hatred

It’s a success if that’s their goal. :sunglasses:

Hayabusa tell me why kyo sounds so damn terrible on this EP… lol, are they going with first takes?

It’s possible! Just for sound very dirty to keep the punk spirit!

He doesn’t sound like he’s making sounds he didn’t want to make and it’s mostly the same type of screams he’s always used for Puchibura. Sounds good to me.

I’m okay with dog band being the Kyo Garbage Disposal, and keeping this stuff very far from deg and sukekiyo. I can enjoy dogband for what it is, even tho I find them weak and disappointing

It’s good. Better than Dir en grey’s releases from the past 10 years. Still not catchy enough, but fun.

The smells like teen spirit riff at the beginning of Gankou bores me to death though.

The part from 1:15-1:25 in dub driving sounds like I heard it from DEG before though. The exact same galloping drums and guitar combination. Some song on UROBOROS maybe?

You would rank this over Arche? Really?

I’m happy that you’re enjoying it, but like…are you sure?

They created a discord for people to talk about the album in English, and it’s just kinda dead in there.
I think people are a little too shy to say how they really feel about the release in a place like that

Yeah better than arche… lol no way.
Revelation of mankind, behind a vacant imagine, koukoku no kyouon, soshaku, rinkaku are some that come first to my mind.

Only revelation of mankind is better than this whole garbage EP. Btw I think Arche is easily one of the best jrock/vk albums ever released. Almost no fillers, only bangers.

Yea, personally Arche is one of my least favorite Dir en grey albums.

The most frustrating thing about this is that all these garbledygook vocals and uninspired compositions actually sound fantastic from a mixing and mastering standpoint. Nice organic drum sound (even if I think the snare is tuned a little too high), and the guitar riffs and bass lines are clear and articulate. It’s just too bad none of it is all that interesting to listen to.

Indeed, this is a songwriting, composition problem.

Just to spite Kyo, I want Kaoru to write nothing but ballads for the next DEG album.

If anyone can get Kyo under control, I imagine it’s him…I hope.

Die needs to invite him to sing in Decays. It’s the only way at this point.

I feel like a flip-flopper, but I recently re-listened to the new release in headphones when I was drawing, and I liked it.
It’s definitely not their strongest release, and I definitely have to be in the mood for it.
But in the right setting, I can vibe with it.

Yup, this is what prompted me to comment on the mix earlier today. It sounds fantastic thru headphones.

Overall my problem here is with Kyo. I’m just not grasping on to anything he’s doing on this release.

I just listened Don’t Forget, Koku and Kodou at the gym earlier today

Man, they can do good stuff.

But why oh god why the rest of their material is so low in terms of quality? The inconsistency kills me, and I don’t even hate the songs. They are bad, but it’s the bad stuff I can enjoy and have fun. But they are bad nevertheless

I would say its the quantity over quality thing. Their label probably wants them to keep up with a constant release schedule and “told” them to make a mini album - and this is what we get when Miya is busy with Mucc and has to write songs for this band as well. I say it again this release is awful with almost every single song being terrible, and Kyo has never sounded worse. I think as a principle for the band “to have a trashy raw sound”, that they are going with the first take… and its not a good idea…

I wrote this before too but it is almost impressive how a band with only talented members (its kind of an avengers jrockband) like this can create such garbage. Not being able to make even one good song for a whole album… is just … and if you like the album don’t feel that I am a party pooper for you. Cheers dude, please have fun with it! This is just my opinions.

I think these songs are sort of just there not really standing out at all. Which, to me, is far worse than being flat out bad. At least something bad generates some sort of emotion.

Aren’t they just on their own indie label though?
I wouldn’t be surprised if they are going for quantity regardless. They need more songs to justify playing more lives, so there’s a push to make a larger catalog quickly.
There’s also the aspect that I think Jigsaw mentioned, where they’re just 4 dudes having fun and recording as much as they can because they want to.

Either way, I do agree that all of their weaker tracks could have benefited from more “time in the oven”
