Just that person get a perma ban. such problematic person, get a life bitch!
i saw eurovision ireland and croatia and who would imagine that vkei 15 years ago , i would now see it in eurovision. how times change so weirdly and weird things happen and perception changes
I fail to see any vkei connection for those two acts
where do you see the differences?
(i didn’t see any other acts this year this is why i said those but i am sure the last years a lot of acts remind vkei ridiculousness and aesthetics)
I have no idea where u see VK in both, my eyes read ireland entry as a RPDR stan cliche of 2020s complete with chopped off body parts and a number of personality disorders, this sort of vibe overall –
the croatian bore looks like an alt-rock record store manager with 3 kids and a subaru
isn’t that what vkei looks like? how does vkei look like? plus i am pretty sure among vkei were a number of personality disorders
it doesn’t look like a shitty drag queen act appropriated by a Becky with a mental health prescription for gender dysphoria and clearance to chop her tits off who is also a compulsive, virtue signaling liar as her own first person ramblings suggest.
most legacy VK acts are functional enough to have a career spanning over decades. I’m not going to check on that nutty banshee thing twice, but I predict she’ll be done with music by 2030 and that’s an extremely generous estimate.
I think the problem is that people seem to think any remotely Alternative or edgy look or aesthetic equals Visual Kei, I see it with people confusing Goth as VK all the time (can a VK band be Goth? Yes. Does that mean Goth is VK? No.).
Ofc the eurovision entries in question are super commercialized versions of Alt fashion, so they are several degrees more removed from VK… and yes, I would say there is indeed a certain VK Look, which ofc has changed over time, but I don’t see it in those two. As nekkichi said, it’s more Drag mixed with Zoomer E-girl / Tik Tok fashion and the current 2k Myspace / Scene-queen revival schtick. I am not saying it’s bad, but it’s not VK.
It feels weird to say, but the closest we got to have something like VK at Eurovision was indeed when Yohio competed to be selected for the Finals in 2013. That was pretty much at the very last peak of the genre’s popularity in the West - it has fallen off so hard since that this will never happen again I presume.
@nick every time i see your avatar i see Charmander.
Let me outta here. Let me graduate already, please!!! I just wanna be done with school lmao ![]()
Just got my PHY mag today, i had a fast look and there is many answers there about dir en grey release and Plastic Tree. Its kind of such good interviews and awesome pictures of them!
So much has changed in ten years when it comes to bookstores and book/music thrift stores. I recently drove out 2 hours to visit a store of an old chain of thrift shops, the one near me that I used to frequent closed down 8 years ago which was the last time I went. Where I used to find old JP indie stuff and stupid numbers of Gackt CDs have been entirely replaced by just Kpop (and like one Arashi CD.) Where there only used to be a couple shelves dedicated to vinyl, they’re pretty even with CDs, now. Funko Pops have invaded like the plague and take up a considerable amount of space, they have yet to go out of fashion, apparently. Not just there, but there’s so much manga now in bookstores with fuckhuge sections. I just wish the boom came earlier before tablets and e-ink devices.
Welcome to rooty tooty, where we have the fresh if you have the fruity.

I… don’t know what to say, honestly. there’s vocal training presented by this person and that’s about it.
Why are apparently all bands releasing stuff in may???
Calm the fuck down, there are 7 more month of the year to go.
Random dude: “wow that late 80s band is definitely the thing we should call
proto-visual kei:sparkles:”
Band member from the late 80s band: “??? excuse me wtf I just wanted to be like Peter Murphy and David Bowie at the same time ![]()
