I guess superfan for me denotes just how dedicated someone decides to be in their fandom (how meticulous their collection is, how lasered in they are on this one interest).

Ideally, a superfan wouldn’t lord it over others or try to discourage people from getting more into their interest.

Often, they aren’t rich, but just make other sacrifices to dedicate all of their disposable income to the hobby.

Kind of like how a dedicated gya for a band might obsessively collect cheki and all of the merch of their favourite band to the exclusion of all else.

Whereas other people prefer to support multiple bands.

Many western bands have super fans as well. Some people buy all vinyl variations that certain bands put out, attend multiple stops on every tour, go on themed vacations like band cruises, or in the case of Coheed, buy multiple collectors variations of the comic releases.

It legitimately irks me when people here (the US) refer to other countries as “third-world countries” when talking about a different country’s socio-economic status when, in states like Florida, it’s slowly becoming a crime to be homeless.

I’m surprised! Tsurugi threw me off my rocker a bit because I was NOT expecting him to be that loud (despite me knowing that I should have seen that coming miles away as a band hailing from Osaka…), and he would YELL words back at me.

“H-hajimemashite…”
“HAJIMEMASHITEEE!!!”

Was he that loud to you? :sob: :sob:

When I did a six-shot, Tsurugi yelled “I LOVE YOU” so loudly at me while I was leaving. I’m convinced he thought he was scaring away this foreign fan. It didn’t help that I was basically starting to run because temperatures dropped below 11-10 degrees Celsius, and we were in an event area that was kind of like an open-air atrium between office buildings. There were lots of gusty winds, and the entire band was suffering along with us.

I pretty much did :sob:  He spoke so quietly that many of the fans, including myself, had to lean forward very close to him to try to hear him speak…oh god. hahahah

Similar to Nightmare’s Ruka, he does have this impenetrable, cold persona, except that from what I know, he’s really quiet and nearly unmoving in real life. As Tsurugi puts it, he seems tough on the surface, but he’s kind beneath.

In the first signing, he asked me what language I spoke and then ended up with full English sentences to thank me for coming down. If I wasn’t already a big Aki fan, I am now, lol.

That being said, he is pretty intimidating nonetheless. Maybe that does put some off. Causation doesn’t equal correlation, but I think I’ve seen one fan during the signing ask him not to sign their copy. I really hope I saw it wrongly…

I have other details for those instores if there are others in this thread who may/may not be interested, but I’ll probably write in a separate post here

Tsurugi leads the Razor in store events (while it’s Mizuki for Sadie) so he can be loud. Wow I wish he yelled that to me lmaooo

Aki can speak English? :flushed: Even if it’s minimal that’s still great - the only bandmen I’ve encountered so far you could actually have full on english convos with is Kouryu. I may try getting a Sadie album signed next round of instore events, obviously by now with the Japanese I’ve messed up in the past Tsurugi knows I’m foreign.

Yeah we should make another thread just talking about in stores lol. I went to a Xaa Xaa instore the other day.

Instores can be intimidating since my Japanese isn’t perfect, and even on good days once my American accent takes over I’m done even if my grammar wasn’t bad. Tsurugi has asked me to repeat myself a couple times :see_no_evil:

To be fair the sex deprived Part comes from actual polar explorers

From the The Worst Journey in the World, by Apsley Cherry-Garrad

But for shows, of course I got some recommendation

There is of course The Terror (season 1)

Against the Ice

Flight of the Eagle

The Last Place on Earth (this one has a young Hugh Grant and Bill Nighy)

Idol is the last company I expected to debut a jacked oneesan type, but I can’t say I’m not intrigued. The voice is perfect. The design reads more as a lion than a hyena to me though.
