Random thoughts thread

If anybody walks into a Goodwill around Raleigh, NC and sees a bunch of rando emo/metalcore/kpop/anime/vk CDs/DVDs, just lettin’ ya know that was me. I can’t be bothered to sell my crap and I need to downsize the fluff.

I kind of hate the fact that I am no longer capable of sleeping for more than 7 hours.

nnnn I no longer use chrome but every time I have to launch it for w/e reason there’s a whole bunch, like 30 or 40, semi-broken MH tabs that will sometimes load, but most of the time won’t, and it brings back some feels

(not very intense ones though.)

There are people who would try to murder you just for the thought of it

Then again… Wasn’t there a lot of VK fans that ran of to Kpop at one point
So we could try it the other way around.

I guess part that and part is just having to wake up for work early. There is definitely some nerve damage at play too

Well, to be honest, I kinda have more than enough handhelds for portable gaming

That’s why I want to have Pocket 2/3 specifically, since it is less suited for gaming and more for overall usage. I even played a bit with 11" chromebooks (and have installed GalliumOS/Linux on it to make it more versatile) just for the whole experience of having & using smaller laptops everywhere (since my main one is 15" Lenovo Legion 5 which is basically stationed at home and connected to external monitor).

…But yes, it would be a big waste of money  It’s something that I understand, I just need to handle my impulsive buying habits.

And damn, that Rilakkuma laptop looks cute.

My mother regularly tells me to let my hair grow long and start putting on at least a little make-up to look like a girl.
Today I decided to fulfill her dream, to have more feminine daughter and since I can’t let my hair grow down to my ass for a day (since my hair is about 50 cm away from that) I put on mascara. It was good that I didn’t take my eye out. Everything was fine… until I draw a mustache and joined my eyebrows and finally took a selfie with a double chin…
I think she will be fascinated when I show it to her :frowning:

I laughed too hard about this
And i am happy you stay true to yourself. I know moms often just mean well, but its wrong if ahe pushes you to be girly if you are not

My parents used to be the exact same way (never wanting to cut my hair short and wear dresses), but now that I’m grown, they don’t really care anymore. I present more feminine these days but I don’t mind switching between femme and butch.

I can’t believe this is real. Bless their courage

I’m not sure where this necessarily applies in other genres, because I almost feel like visual kei is wholly unique in the fact that less resolution, softer presentation, and/or artificially-wide staging in the headphone/IEM is to the benefit of the listener with certain artists. I know there is wonderfully produced vk music out there, but more often than not, I’m assaulted with this “wall” of sound, like really busy passages of layered synths, guitars, vocals, etc. where it’s like on the cusp of being a noise generator.

While I guess this can also be applicable to synth-y metalcore of yesteryear, in my experience, there at least tends to be sections dedicated to synth + stupid-levels of boomy bass to even it out. For vk, it’s just shoving it into my ears all at once w/ zero separation.

This lies more in 1st world problems territory, but I’ll get to something I once enjoyed with new equipment, and I’m like “This sounds like literal ass”, and then move on to another artist or genre where I get more gratification. Hence, the reason why I’m still rotating between one headphone/iem, and then another day, one that’s like 4-5 times the price*.

*Price is not always indicative of performance. Perhaps 4-5 times better technicalities would be a better way to put that.

I have another weird gripe to write about:

I see this a lot, but I notice many users on the forum who are unfamiliar tend to conflate the rise in visual-kei idol bands (really male j-idol) to Kpop. From my observations, they have little-to-no association (**visual kei & kpop), and the surging vk idol groups are more a product of the already-consistent popularity of J-idol groups domestically, utaite popularity, and host-crossover. BTS is not coming to snatch your honmei, it’s just people trying to maintain a livelihood doing different things. Hell, they might actually want to do something different, even if it might not sound the “best”. (Not saying the groups are free of criticism though.)
