Same here. I generally don’t give a flying fuck about celebrity deaths but I’ve been stewing on this one for days. Reita was iconic for so many of us, not to mention Visual Kei as a whole.
Yeah I was getting the vibe from the messages they will probably use recordings. Definitely not feeling like they will get a replacement, espefially after (we will never be a 4 man thing) kinda gives me the impression that he’ll still be with them on stage in spirit.
Chiyu (ex SuG) also made a statement about Reita and the time they shared together at PSC. It seems he took over some legacy item from Reita at the time, which he still has, but the auto translation isn’t very clear.
It’s been almost a week, and I’ve cried over this news every day. Ruki’s and Aoi’s statements hit so hard. I’ve never really reacted to a celebrity or musician’s death before, so it’s been a struggle to accept I really am mourning this guy who I never really knew, but has been there for so many years of my life.
Like a lot of people, Reita was someone who influenced me to play bass. I loved his attitude on stage and the way he would spin like a maniac with that heavy instrument as if he couldn’t cause some serious damage if he was too careless. I used to buy expensive photo paper and print out pictures of band members to stick next to my bed. Reita and Aoi were always there when I woke up lol
The silver lining here is that I’m not mourning alone, gazette fans on twitter have been sharing beautiful artwork to honor him, bringing up funny moments from interviews and talking about their favorite memories of him. As painful as it is, I’m also grateful for that, especially when archaic images of the very early days of gazette come up, like this one of Reita and Uruha.
As we go forward, it’d be really special if gazette brought in support members from the same vk generation as them to cover for Reita. Seeing an empty space on stage would be too painful. I mean, whatever they choose will hurt regardless, but I trust their decision.
Embassy workers knew about it and it was properly organized (set dates×, what to bring and etc.).
Not only in Moscow, but in Sankt-Peterburg as well.
gazette had several one-man gigs in Russia during toxic album era and pre-covid/pre-war, and the embassy over here organizes small cultural events once in a while, so yeah at least someone from there knew band members in person.
typically a lot of younger local staff at this kind of orgs leans weeb-ish too.
russian stans who fly to japan for lives likely mention the reason why they do it on the visa application forms, etc.
Intresting, I have been to the japanese embassy in Berlin and the people there did not seem like they were the weebish kind but maybe their were just very professional. At least I would not assume they knew about vk bands.
Haven’t been here in a while and holy fucking shit this thread title hit me like a ton of bricks. He was so young.
Gazette was one of the first (if not the first) vkei groups I ever heard before getting into the genre and I was always really drawn towards Reita and his nose band. NIL was such a good album and I still adore the basslines in Shadow VI II I and Silly God Disco. It was an excellent introduction to the band and vkei in general.
It’s been a while since I’ve listened to them properly so all of this might take a while to properly sink in, I think I’ll spend the weekend listening to their music…
It’s not but come on… He went way younger than anyone expected, there has to be some curiosity as to what happened. I know its none of our business and nor are we (or anyone outside of his close friends and family) entitled to this information but im sure everyone whos heard the news who cared about him has wondered what happened.
exactly. We are not close or even family members of The GazettE or even Reita so it’s not our bussniess we can wonder and question until the sun finally fades from the earth forever but we will never know because it’s not our place to know.
It’s absolutely human that people do wonder what happend.
Saying “I wish we know” in a closed community hurts literally no one. But coming at people who also grief in a way because for a lot of us Reita was part of our youth, can be hurtful.
I know you all mean well and want to respect the wishes of the family but you don’t have to been mean. Everybody here is also a human.
We all loved Reita. Let’s all be a bit more considerate of each other for him, yes?
I know his age is what has people curious about the cause, but remember that none of us are guaranteed another day on this earth. The human body is a mystery. He could have been perfectly healthy mentally and physically, things can still happen out of the blue.
If/when this information ever becomes available, this forum will be one the first places where it will reverberate. I know we all are curious, but let’s try avoid speculation and actively hunting for it.
My only real $0.02 on the subject is that I think it varies culturally all over the world as to what we the fans get to know about public figure’s private lives. Here in the states we have to know everything Taylor Swift does from the moment she wakes up and all celebrity deaths are confirmed with causes within a day.
Meanwhile, 16 years later and I’m not fully sure I understand why JasmineYou passed away. It eats me alive because I’m a curious person, but if I’m not mean to know, I’m just not meant to know. Of course with Reita also being very young, I’d love to know or have it confirmed. But if I don’t get to know, I don’t get to know.
