Rides In ReVellion will disband and best-of album release

The band will disband in March 2025

Blockquote
Rides In ReVellion would like to make an important announcement to our fans.
This is a sudden announcement,
Rides In ReVellion has decided to disband in March 2025.
The reason for this decision is that, after many meetings, we have come to the conclusion that there is a big gap in the future that each member sees and that it will be very difficult to resolve this gap.
We plan to tour Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka from January to March 2025 and release a best-of album.
We will announce the details as soon as they have been decided.
It will be about six months until the break-up, but we would like to ask for your support until the very end.
All members and staff of Rides In ReVellion.

holy shit, genuinely shooketh

Speechless :sob:

I let out an audible gasp. So unfortunate, I really love these guys and this band. I’ll be sure to see what the members do next and continue to support them while they… ahem shoot for the moon.

Damn. I mean I get it…. But still a bummer.

It’s been like 8 years to the day since they played an anime con in DC! Fun show.

Sad but expected, they seemed very out of gas recently.
Also many of their bangers just simply didn’t get any traction, like Innovator.

://// saaad … hopefully the members wil stay in the scene at least

so freaking sad… they are one of the best acts around but yeah, in this scene you either break out early or make peace with the fact that you will never gonna go far… I really do hope they all stick around

Am I surprised? Not really. Am I disappointed? Absolutely

I saw that last night and didnt even translate it thinking it was for some huge event (positive one) I love those guys and their music T_T

What a bummer.

That’s so sad. I always enjoyed them and I was hoping they will last much more, at least after Shiyu became a proper member. I will seriously miss them.

This is incredibly dissappointing. All they needed was one good anime song or mainstream tie-in and they would have been one of the best-selling visual kei bands.

Literally one of the only vkei bands around with not just a bearable but phenomenal voice. Whenever I listen to those monthly playlists of new vkei songs, I always skip right away whenever it sounds like a cock-a-doodling rooster is singing, which is over 99% of the time. But this band has both the vocals and stellar compositions to boot, thanks to TaJI who extensively studied the scene and respects the vkei greats so much.

Amazed to see the drummer of DEVILOOF say something so similar, paired with the fact that this is also the band he listens to the most. x.com

I have no idea how a band that was so consistently great for 10-years was so unpopular, including its level of discussion in these forums and the west as a whole. It shouldn’t have been like this.

Despite always doing live-shows with more popular bands like JILUKA, XANVALA, The MADNA, etc, all those heaps of fans would conveniently never acknowledge these guys and pretend they didn’t exist. Such a shame, honestly.

Their USA interview has been scrubbed off the web, but back in 2016 the members were all asked where they see the band in 5 years. TaJI said Nippon Budokan, and Kuro went as far to say Madison Square Garden. It’s no wonder why Kuro would say their goals were only halfway-accomplished, more like even less.

And poor TaJI, who cared the most and put the most work in the band, I feel heart-broken when I read his message of it feeling uncool for a band that has been around for a decade to disband so abruptly…

But well, it’s still better than what we would’ve gotten if they had disbanded like originally intended in 2020, when their original drummer left. After that incident, they also had many more difficult times that leaned them back and forth between disbanding.

Most notably in 2022, their “Beyond the Night / Juvenile” single were extremely depressing, and lyrics perfectly fitting for a disbandment. But the tour they had restored their confidence and another spurt forward, which gave us the privledge of having a few more songs by them, up until now…

I hate to say it, but the band really did seem unmotivated the past year. Absolutely no Twitcasting livestreams of their shows anymore since July of last year, and hardly any Youtube uploads. The last time they had a Youtube hiatus, they actually sent an apology video and proceeded to bounce back with consistent uploads of high-quality MV covers of popular vkei songs, but nothing this time.

So it seems their peak was having a live-show of about 1000 people at GORILLA HALL, having a live in USA when they were small, and having a live-show in China recently, (Which went under everyone’s radar, as expected for them. :disappointed:)

At least they got to live up to their recent single Yoake Saizensen and actually did go “beyond the ocean” in some way before disbanding, after all. :smiling_face_with_tear:

TaJI was really hyping up Shooting the Moon when he was making the song, so hope it turns out as a banger of a last release. And here’s hoping the highlights album features “Another…” and “Akanesora”, the only other songs not on streaming platforms.

This will still be my favourite band for the forseeable future to come, I’m so thankful for everything their music has blessed me with.

It’s quite hard to put into words and trying to is not really considerate of the people who truly liked them, but…sometimes it’s just not there. While on a musical and technical level, they were one of the best, there wasn’t much that would keep me dialed in and consistently keep coming back to their music. Nonetheless, it’s a damn shame and I hope they resurface, as a new band or individually, sometime later.

This should be a serious reminder that you can be actually a top-tier band in the scene, with unique appeal that reaches mainstream accessibility, and for ten years keep up consistent quality songwriting…

and without constant riding the marketing train and trend chasing, none of that above will end up mattering.

Hope this doesn’t sound like i’m criticizing them - they may not have hit the Budoukan but to me and evidently a lot of y’all too, they left a better impression on music than maybe some other bands and artists who have

They started out solely with that traditionally dark vkei vibe for their first couple years of music taking heavier influences from X Japan and other past vkei titans, but ever since the success of Kareta Soleil, they took this sort of approach with their music; (quote from AIOLIN/AURORIZE’s leader). The releases weren’t frequent in order to make their best work, but literally each member was composing songs, all of similar high-quality despite the freedom of genres. Gentle R&B ballads, emo, power metal, anisong-sounding poprock, etc. It felt like a band that could open endless doors with their arsenal, but somehow wasn’t meant to be…

It’s sad but not surprising to me. The band always sounded sterile to me, way too mainstream, and the audience already has so many mainstream bands to listen to. So not getting enough success was predictable, I would say.

I would add to it — I classify them as “good generic songs”. and there’s already too many bands who do that.

You really think so? I can easily name at least one unorthodox sounding song in all 3 of their EPs over the last 3 years. 21g, Re:birth, GREED, Allergy sounds quite atypical as well.
Their past album “VEIN” was even concepted not to follow the royal road chord progression nor sound mainstream.

It’s true that they also have a lot of songs with choruses that follow the royal road like the majority of popular Japanese music does. But that doesn’t stop other sections of those songs from sounding unique, (ex. Awakening BRAVERY despite the generic chorus has verses with a worldview akin to a collosseum of gladiators), or the lyrical meanings to be rich and intense, as in Kareta Soleil.
