Not sure what this means. A solo career? A girugamesh reboot?
Interestingly enough, it can’t be a coindicdence that it has been EXACTLY ten years since the disbanding. Must have to do something with contract clauses (like not being allowed to perform for 10 years or something?)
Edit:
And apparently he dropped a track a few days ago. Sounds very late girugamesh.
Edit:
He’s using AI lol
Ryo Trackmaker is a Japan-based modern metal / dark pop creator forging a new form of hybrid music.
Handling every aspect of production himself - from songwriting and arranging to recording, mixing, and mastering - he uses Al voices as instruments to build a powerful, futuristic sound driven by raw emotion.
With a vision that goes beyond borders, Ryo is creating a new global alternative emerging from Japan.
He’s used to Satoshi vocal range, so it was inevitable to not notice how the vocals were inspired (or mimicked) by Satoshi uniqe singing style.
Yeah, very late girugamesh nothing bad on it but the song needed or I was expecting growls or actual screams.
The music video for this song is expected to be released in 2 or 3 days and I’m expecting to be AI as well.
If this was more like a demo I probably could expect more lol Gen AI is associated with low quality or cheaper processes, so I don’t know if he seriously wants to create a project like this. Having demonstrated all his potential with a very successful band and producing for many others
Imagine being in a prominent band like Girugamesh and STILL relying on AI to create a piece of your work, despite probably having plenty of connections to rely on.
They did, though I guess it wasn’t any sort of continuation but more of a “hey, thank you all for being fans of our art - here, we made this, we hope you enjoy - goodbye again” sort of thing.
I’m not sure I agree. The sort of sampling and synthesis that goes into programming Vocaloid voices and soundbanks is an immense undertaking, one that relies on active input and modification by human developers at the beginning and human composers/engineers at the end. That’s VERY different than typing “make a vocal do these words in this key thank you” into a prompt generator, in my opinion.
i find it hard that a former member of a band and a producer has no connections for an actual human to actually sing on an actual track but seeing this also gave me an excuse to listen to girugamesh some more. so thanks ryo!
This was clearly a Girugamesh left over that Ryo wanted to get out. Its not bad. Hell, I didn’t even mind the vocals. But its cut and paste what Satoshi would do. Would I rather it be Ryo? Sure, i dug his other covers. This is a one-and-done for me.
However, I’m far from writing him off. He’s been hauling ass for SADIE, Thirteen (iirc?), and Lynch. on the production side. One underwhelming track using AI is not the end of the world. Nor does it invalidate his talent. I’ll live.
This is fair and I’m glad he posted this, since the amount / type of AI used can be unclear and the word carries a stigma these days (for good reason). If he only used it to change his synth vocal track to AI vocals… maybe he would have been better off just using the synth vocals? They were very similar to me, but he must have liked the Suno ones more. Just finding a guest singer would have been the best option.
The song was ok, but the chorus (ironically!) sounded like an AI copying Antimental by STMLT. Even got the same “whoa-oh”s at the end.
