sukekiyo

It’s early to say that they are getting worse just because of one weak single lol

Is it a hot take at least? What is your hot take on Kyo’s recent pink schoolgirl look with Sukekiyo?

Well I don’t like most of Kyo’s looks tbh

It’s subjective.

In my opinion, the ranking of their main albums is as follows:

IMMORTALIS > ADORATIO > INFINITUM > EROSIO

That’s not to say the new stuff is bad, but for me, there is a definite decline in quality. For the record, I think EROSIO is a pretty good album, but IMMORTALIS is more-or-less perfect. Also for the record, I enjoy INFINITUM very much.
I know that some view their first album as weak and put ADORATIO as number one. For me, their early work was always their best.

For mini-albums, my ranking is like this:

VITIUM > ANIMA > SALUS > > AMOR > > > > > > > > > > > DOMINUS

I’m taking into account releases as a whole here (except videos/live footage).
In this instance, VITIUM is a shade below their first album, AMOR is only really ‘okay’, and DOMINUS is something I never want to hear again.

A full discography ranking might be like this:

IMMORTALIS > VITIUM > ADORATIO > INFINITUM > ANIMA > EROSIO > SALUS > > AMOR > > > > > > > > > > > DOMINUS

There is clearly a downward trend. Part of that might be my own growing disdain towards everything in general. Or perhaps entropy is increasing for sukekiyo.

And Kyo’s pink-haired schoolgirl look does nothing for me. It’s so trashy. However, I would’ve preferred this to the AI abortion in the breeder video.

Erosio is their best album I think, so no. Candis is absolutely not the only good song they’ve done in that style lol. I would concur that it is a hot and wrong take but everyone is entitled to their own viewpoint, so who’s to say really

sukekiyo is like a stew that gets better the longer you give it to settle and let the ingredients intermingle.

Immortalis is like eating it fresh off the stove: there’s too much of it and lacks cohesion because it only tastes like its constituent ingredients. I always give my stews a day in the fridge before eating for that reason.

Adoratio is that sweet spot where the stew has settled enough that you can appreciate how each part compliments each other but it’s still fresh and exciting. To say you are sick of the stew at this point would be silly.

I was worried the stew was starting to grow mold by Infinitum, but thankfully the Radio Edit version skimmed it off.

Erosio came at a time where other things in the fridge took priority, but one day you found the stew hidden in the back and went for a taste. It’s still as good as ever, even if not quite as fresh anymore.

breeder is fine. If you ignore the AI it’s a dumber Waizatsu. Someone put a dank hot sauce in the stew but you can eat it before it permeates the broth. And if you stick it out you might notice a mysterious smell—is that vodka soup?

At this point it’s safe to say: baby, you’ve got a perpetual stew going.

A very tasty analysis here! I couldn’t have said it better. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Erosio is one of their best albums. Schoolgirl look is different, and I’ll be happy for as long as new releases are sufficiently different from previous releases, even if I liked the style of a previous release more. I think they’ve done this more so than any other artist(s) whose music I can actually enjoy, and maybe even just in general.

I think the looks are fun. Better than any adidas kei tbh. At least there is effort here.

I still like IMMORTALIS the best despite how many people seem to hate it so guess imo everything after that was them getting worse. Still great, but never beat the OG.

Adoratio and Erosio are my favorites, but they’ve been kind of gyrating in place with their sound since Infinitum from six years ago, so I’m slowly growing tired of what they’re doing and while the retro pop shtick was an interesting configuration of their sound, it’s quite repetitive and banal by design. I’ve found myself most into whenever they’ve torn down rigid structures and played with textures and rhythms, and I’d like to see them get away from the jingles. The latest song was like a refurbished Waizatsu as well, and I wasn’t feeling it.

i agree with you except

I was just listening to Leather Field yesterday and thinking “they don’t make songs like this anymore”
For me, the Anima EP was a major peak for me. And as much as I enjoy the kinda pop/retro/drag songs and the vampire club songs, I do hope that they don’t leave behind the sounds from the adoratio and anima eras.

I still think Anima is one of their best, if not their best song not gonna lie. It is so catchy. Maybe it was their peak because most recent releases are a bit of mediocre imo (but with some bangers like houmonsha X. But.. I think we all fans deep inside die a bit every time when we hear a song like Breeder, but dont say it.

Imo nothing beats their very first Album Immortalis and Aftermath is their best song. Masterpieces!

I walked into the kitchen recently to hear my housemate blasting Immortalis. It was like being hit by a blast of love, and I was brought back from the pits of indifference/disgust that breeder threw me into.

I used to find Immortalis too much as a whole - individually the tracks are generally fantastic. Anyway, it now sounds refreshing compared to their latest stuff, so it’s time to have that, Vitium and Adoratio on loop for a while.
