I feel the same.. going on without Aoi seems less like the GazettE than if they stopped all together, I think I feel like right now. Imagine if they get a replacement guitarist, but then leave Reita’s bass on stage as a tribute. That all just seems super weird to me.. (sorry, don’t want to speculate about those things happening to much.)

I remember reading somewhere that either The Gazette were close to disbandment, or Aoi wanted to quit sometime around 2012, but I haven’t got into the band till much later, maybe older fans could clarify it for us.

It was really weird and shocking to read this news. the GazettE has been part of more than half of my life by now, and Aoi was my favorite member as well. Especially as being ‘a guitarist’ and inspiring me to pursue making music myself.
I feel insanely fortunate that I was able to meet them twice, at meet and greets during the Dogmatic tour and Ninth tour, both in Germany. I already felt that very strong when Reita passed, and now when Aoi left it hits me again.
When Reita passed, and it seemed like the future of the GazettE would involve the four of them, I feel like for me it still felt like the ‘soul’ of the GazettE was still intact. Especially when they all stated the same feelings of ‘carrying on the legacy’.
Now that Aoi is no longer a member, I can’t help but feeling that ‘soul’ lost a bigger chunk than just one member. It is 2 members in one go? If that makes sense.
The three of them feel more like a tribute, than the actual band. Very sad all this..

they also promised the 4 of them would go on forever and ever their merry way… In the real world things are a bit more complicated. In this specific case, ending activities and starting over would be even more understandable. Much better than this stain at this point of their career

I wonder what his solo project or next band will be like. Seems like he’s been planning on leaving for a while so he has to have something concrete set up. Never thought I’d see it though, these guys seemed like the best of friends, but maybe Reita’s death made him think about where he wants to go musically for the future, like someone said he’s like 47 so.

I’m in shock.
the band’s statement and press release are very aggressive, especially compared to Aoi’s response.
I think Aoi is going to have to take legal action because his image has been severely damaged, unless what was said is true.
Now, my personal opinion: GazettE should definitely break up. I think remaining as a three-piece band (even though they claim to be four) is going to be very incomplete. I’m eager to see what GazettE and Aoi will decide to do separately. Aoi has always talked about wanting to leave the band on several occasions, but I always thought it was just his way of getting attention. He’s been silent on Twitter for far too long. We should have suspected something.

I had an overwhelming desire to listen to old GazettE yesterday into today, and wasn’t sure why. Last time I had this same urge, the news with Reita dropped.

In all honesty, some of y’all are nasty and insensitive. As a long time fan of the band, reading shit like “they should just quit” “they shouldn’t continue” “just stop listening to them already” is just wild. Speculate, post your opinion, but be aware that fans of the band are reading and probably looking for some kind of solace in this whole mess from one of the few vkei-communities on the internet. It’s seriously disgusting the way some are choosing to express themselves here.
