The dogma era is probably my favourite part of their discography.
Haven’t heard about that, but at one point Aoi wanted to leave.
Yeah I remember this, it was their 10th anniversary show at Makuhari Messe that changed his mind if I recall correctly!
give it a try with this tracklist, it gets a lot better…

idk exactly how i got to this ordering; it’s basically the split concept of the shokaiban for the overall structure, but within each part the ordering takes from the tsuujouban. like i still think of it like the vein/binding/artery, except the middle part is those extra tracks instead of PVs, and you open with the fun pop tracks and close with the more #srs ones.
but if you have the files available plz give it a listen like this - to me it’s inconceivable anyone might listen to it any other way, but in this order it’s structured like DIM & imho gets pretty close in quality.
It doesn’t change the fact they literally used a sample of someone saying “dubstep”. I think division would make a decent mini album without all the electronic tracks.
Wow really? I love that album lol
I felt quite the opposite. I think Division disc 2 would make a good filler tracks for Toxic, not an entirely separate release. I think that had they decided cook both albums a little bit more and record some of the TOXIC tracks to make it sound more DIVISION-like (Like VENOMOUS SPIDER WEB for example) it could’ve been good but not as good follow up to Dim as opposed to an inconsistent mess that is BOTH Toxic (Thanks to its Anime-esque songs like RED and Shiver) and Division (Mainly because of Disc1)
Also can we move this whole GazettE section to its thread?
Toxic and Division didnt really grab me at first but actually got to really enjoy them both with repeated listens. Theyre definitely growers. The way Division is listed (the 2CD version) I actually really liked, i feel like somehow the SE tracks really added some nice atmosphere which just worked with the track ordering.
Am I the only one here who dislikes DIM the most? I kinda fell out of love with Gaze over it. I bought it without listening to it before because I thought you can’t go wrong with them. And I was so disappointed that only recently I bought their other albums because I fugured I do like all them.
What do you dislike about DIM?
I don’t remember tbh what it was. I just know I hated it and was super upset because back then it was a lot of money for me because I got the limited Edition. I do like the singles but I just can’t listen to the album as a whole. Probably because it felt very diffrent from Stacked Rubbish, which I loved a lot. I think the first album I bought after this was Division but only digitaly because I was afraid of wasting money again and I liked it a lot more. But I still was more hesitant about their releases. Then last year I got ninth and mass and found I still do like gaze a lot. It was just DIM. I bought all the missing albums as physical copies some weeks ago, finally.
DIM is pretty bad. There are some standout songs for sure, but on the whole it’s among their weakest releases.
It was praised on the VK forums when it came out, still has its loyal defenders (especially after Stacked Rubbish); but the excessive use of English in the lyrics really brings it down.
And, a lot of the song ideas have been done better elsewhere in their catalog.
Headache Man and Ogre are great examples of this. They’re garbage compared to tracks like Ruthless Deed, Abhor God, Barbarian, and Undying.
Surely everyone thinks Nakigahara from DIM is a certified emotional slapper tho??
Hm, also not my favorite.
I love it but for me DIM SCENE is more intense.
I remember I listened to the album a lot when it came out and I love all their albums but, despite the difference between my favorite albums and the rest is not big, it does not belong to my favorites.
There‘s at least a handful of tracks on it that I do love very much (and the only track I don‘t listen to at all).
DIM is proto dogma. Both of them are course corrections to a heavier sound that have some good tracks, some ok tracks, and some stinkers I usually skip. DOGMA is DIM done better. When DIM came out it was great but it shows it’s age when compared to GazettE songs and releases that do it better.
I still like DIM, but less than I did initially. It’s a bit long winded, and the track sequence is all over the place. It could do with some trimming or perhaps a different song order. Towards the back half it sounds like they just threw everything else on there with no consideration for how it would flow.
