Yeah, Unfortunately the band seems prefer to be in an isolated envoirment and didn’t feel like bringing any major changes atm. I know this thread might not be the right place to talk about it, but I heard the rumors somewhere that ever since they opened their exclusive membership, they stopped touring with other bands. Ig they need to do something about this
I just don’t see this happen when it comes to a bassist.
The sentimental part is very much in the front and I can understand that.
In the end they need to do what they feel comfortable with. If they don’t manage to go for someone else on stage with them (I think for every live they played since May 2024 there’s always been Reita’s equipment on stage not just for the first one, but I might be wrong, I’ve not been to one of these lives myself) than there won’t be.
For Aoi’s part, fans have been saying it will be really weird with the left side of the stage being practically empty now and yeah, that’s right.
But them being very much sticking to themselves, that’s why I find it hard to imagine them getting someone else there.
Out of curiosity, what to you mean by “exclusive membership”?
Oh sorry, I mean the HERESY fanclub. I might’ve taken tanuki ramblings way too seriously so plz just ignore that. Yeah like I said, any more major changes were unlikely atm. Now for the state of their next album.. they might as well change the title to a self titled album due to how many changes that happened during the production ![]()
There’s a lot of focus on the FC, that is for certain. Since 2020 there had been more FC limited lives than others I would say (didn’t count though). As the above mentioned bracelet by Kai was FC limited as well afaik.
For the title, yeah, changing that were an option. Either self-titled or something totally different.
I try not to be too hard on the GazettE, same as with my other favs, like DEG, who put out some not-so-great stuff during COVID. I can imagine they had other plans before everything shut down, and even though Idk their contracts, I’m guessing waiting for normalcy wasn’t an option.
I forget that album even exists outside of BLINDING HOPE.
I thought NOX, 濁, and THE PALE were bangers, personally.
That is by no means the consensus. I think it will work perfectly fine production-wise. The main composers and conceptual thinkers are still there. When it comes to live performances, they’ll probably need supporting instrumentals.
People might hate me for this but I thought MASS was trash, generic trash, except Blinding Hope all the other songs were soooo weak. I just gave it another listen now and the songs just blend together. I really expected more of it.
I didn’t like Mass either, but it made me appreciate the run from Toxic to Beautiful Deformity even more.
To each their own ![]()
Depending on how they would do it.
I can see them sadly replacing aoi eventually in the future but not Reita
I don’t think it was trash. I think it was a weak album compared to other things they put out.
I get you and I think it just comes down to personal taste. For me a lot of the songs in NINTH start to feel a bit boring after I’ve listened to them too much over time except for ABHOR GOD and GUSH. I do still enjoy tracks like Falling, NINTH ODD SMELL, and TWO OF A KIND occasionally tho.
On the other hand I can replay most of the songs on MASS except for DAKU which I find it quite horrible. Even tho NINTH is definitely darker I feel like MASS was intentionally made to mellow things down a bit and I actually like that they toned down their sound for once to allow more emotions to be poured into and made it work as a full album in a diff way. Interestingly Falling and BLINDING sound so similar.
Also pls don’t compare it to DIM
Im the opposite. Ninth is one of my all time favorite albums and seeing it live was insane. Mass has some alright songs but it sounds too overly produced and generic to me in comparison to NINTH and DOGMA which are stellar albums.
Dogma album is goat. My fav is INCUBUS and BLEMISH.
I love and adore both approaches to DOGMA and NINTH. DOGMA was highly conceptual, they were super strict about fitting the theme of the album and the result was magnificent. Then NINTH comes around and they say, we don’t have a theme except to make an album that is killer live and they delivered. I was disappointed by MASS but looking back on how COVID impacted not just the band but the entire music industry, it’s no wonder it didn’t quite deliver in the way we all expected.
Almost all of Aoi’s songs are more emotional like gentle lie, kare uta, shiroki yuutsu and my fav song of them yoin, wonder how the new album’s going to sound without Aoi’s touch
I feel bad now because im not a fan of their softer stuff except songs like baretta.
I just gave dogma, ninth, and mass a listen back to back. Surprisingly, my impressions of these albums haven’t changed at all.
Dogma has good songwriting, but it’s too damn long. I never wanna turn it on because it’s about 4-5 tracks overloaded and those tracks start to blend together. Laying off the electronic direction really helped them come up with a focused sound. But unfortunately, that sound, while refined, gets old fast as they rely on heaviness with not much meat in the riffs. Ruki sounds very good though. I can actually distinguish his melodies and his performance is varied.
Ninth is, for me, a step down. It leans further into heaviness with a more industrial sound (which is good), but the songwriting is weaker. Instrumentally, they actually do a lot of fantastic things, but everything doesn’t quite come together as nicely. It’s not as tight or consistent as dogma. I don’t know what happened but Ruki’s vocals are noticeably less compelling. I really dislike a lot of what he does melodically. Except Falling and Abhor God. Those two tracks I genuinely enjoy and think they’re strong. Ninth is a lot of atmosphere and vibes but lacks polish for me.
I surprising enjoyed Mass more overall. But I think it’s an even messier album than ninth. It feels like a collection of ideas they wanted to try rather than a solid album. Almost like a Division Pt 2. It carries over the same complaints I have with Ruki’s poor performance and some lackluster composition. But I think it’s much more interesting than Ninth. They experiment here and I like what they did with songs like daku, the pale, and last song.
Color me crazy, but I think Toxic is their last great album. It’s not my favorite of all time, but it’s consistent sonically and fun to listen to. I feel like they lost a lot if playfullness in their music post Toxic.
People rag on their electronic era but I found it genuinely fresh, fun, and varied.
