As a unit? At the immediate moment?
I look at it like this:
With what Sugizo stated and what Miyavi echoed regarding the concept behind the unit when it was announced: that it’s about the philosophy, attitude, innovation, and evolution; not genre…
Sugizo already embodies this. If the 4 combined can do this well enough according to their strengths and style, (or 3, if your a bit more pessimistic), then yea, they can end up being, at least pretty close to, “bad ass”.
The debut song was a bad, bad choice as a debut song. However, I do feel like it is something that would exist better within a “sea of other songs”; and that it could also be a silly-fun type of song to play live - MYV would come in real handy there.
Do I wish it was a bit heavier, absolutely; at least just a little bit; or at least a cool highlight mix of what each of the four can bring equally, or even a duo pair (MYVxSGZ with HydexYoshiki). But as it was stated its not exactly about genre; another reason why I’m not completely annoyed with the “not rock” aspect of the song that a lot of people are echoing.
Not saying this introduction song is an example of “innovation” and “evolution”; it’s definitely not. But, moving forward, there definitely can be; the elements are all there, they just need to be used correctly, freely, and fully.
For now, it’s a waiting game. Let’s see. I want to give it a chance to move forward a bit…

TBH I felt they were on to something during the first verse but then the super generic chorus started, and that biggity bang bang “we are the fucking rockstars” is just so cringe.
They will release this single and never be heard of again, calling it.
I feel bad for especially Sugizo, I can tell that he thinks this is BS (seen some interviews with him in the past and can tell that this is not his thing). The senpai kouhai thing is no joke in Japan.

I couldn’t agree more.
In all honesty, it sounds like a stereotypical rock song you would hear from a fictional band that would be considered “famous celebrities” in a kids movie, except with curse words. That’s what it sounds like to me.

While I think the song, with some tweaking is well set-up to be a fun nonsense song, “cringe parts” and all, I also just don’t see how Sugizo would be okay with this. Especially as a debut.
Notice how he’s been the last one to post about it… granted, he’s a bit busy too, but, it’s interesting to notice how slow he’s been about it in comparison to the other three.
I’d actually hate to see the unit die; Sugizo and Myv do have a great vision for it, and those two together - absolutely love to see more. So, I hope your wrong lol

Can’t believe these guys came up with this. Such a strong collection of talent that have created incredible works in the past released this and put out a press release to English music sites to attract attention and this what they’re attracting attention to.
I shouldn’t be surprised how bad this is given that outside of Sugizo’s solo works, other side projects, and Luna Sea… Basically anything not associated with Yoshiki, none of them really try to be interesting anymore. Hyde and Miyavi’s solo career goals appear to be as boring and bland as humanly possible.

Self made millionaire child musical prodigy that came from literally nothing.
But more plausible it’s a combination of a lot of self esteem issues that are covered by his plastic bravado. Probably has narcissistic personality disorder aggravated and reinforced by a lot of yesmen for over 40 years.

Asians who adopt western mannerisms and loud self-hyping that american culture is pretty much founded on always look a bit off, particularly when you remember how different they act (acted) in public in asia.
you might think yoshiki is full of it, but he pretty much runs japanese rock industry, and on the contrary, scroll through myv’s instagram ever since tomomi let the leash loose and his own ego + non-vk label’s PR handling took over.
