What video games are you playing?

I actually felt like the system was manageable, but it just took way too long to get to the actual gameplay. Which, yeah considering the whole day to day aspect I think I get why they may have spent a lot of time trying to introduce it all little by little.

Guess I should work more to save money for more restore items :joy:

Yes, the Japanese really into making a game like a series of animation / movie, especially PERSONA series, it’s fun.

Omg!!! I loved the Atelier Arland serie! I played Atelier Lulua and Atelier Ryza 1! Such a great serie  The time limit with days stressed me, but it was still great! Atelier Lulua was my most switch game played, 60 hours lolz. After Atelier Ryza 1, I kinda lost interest, but I really enjoyed those games ^^. Fun to see someone else playing those game! They worth more attention and are underrated :stuck_out_tongue:

From what I can recall, yeah from Shallie and on forward, there’s no time limit on days, only events on certain dates, and Lulua doesn’t have any time limit or event or whatever haha. That’s what I prefered about this game  And yes, she is the daughter of Rorona ^^ Try it out! It’s very fun, but god the last boss is hard haha. Was like 10 level + for the whole game, last dongeon had a hard time, last boss, killed me easily hahaha.

My first game was also Atelier Rorona, I loved it  And nice that you got the good ending. These are hard to get, you have to be loved by the population by completing side quests and so on. I read that after finishing the game actually haha.

Atelier Ryza 2 looked nice, the fact that you can swim and climb looked really cool! I’ll wait for a sale and buy it  I don’t want to pay full price for it :open_mouth:

As for Ryza 2, probably playstation. They tend to censor a lot haha.

Well, they’re not “easier” just different, they are tough too, just the time limit is a pain something to manage, and I’m glad they got rid of it, because it didn’t had much to the gameplay as it as atm. It’s still fun for older games like the Arland serie, but imo, it was such a pain, it took away the pleasure I had in picking up items, doing alchemy, etc.

Well, once you reach Lulua, yeah haha, prepare for the final boss. Pretty much in every of these game, the post-game is so hard haha, it’s not even funny lol.

I’m wrapping up Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and it’s incredibly stunning visually. The atmosphere and audio design in this game is so immersive. Can’t believe it was made by an indie studio. Very hyped for the sequel.

It’s also been a great supplement for Norse lore because I’m also going through God of War for PS4.

I’ve been meaning to play this for ages, as it was a Games with Gold game ages ago (I think), but never got around to it since I couldn’t really understand what type of game it was. Can you give me a run down of how it plays, my good friend @ghost?

Haha sure thing. It’s a bit of everything; I’d describe it as a third-person action adventure game with heavy emphasis on story and puzzle solving.

Puzzles and Combat
The puzzles are mostly focused around matching up rune symbols with objects in real life, but there is some variety throughout (I found this to be a bit tedious at times tbh). The combat is simple and infrequent but it works well enough and feels really good. You can do light & heavy attacks and even parry. And the main character has a kind of sixth sense so she has the ability to focus which plays a part in both the puzzle and combat mechanics.
*One thing to note is that, because of the story, if you die too many times you’ll stay dead forever and your save file apparently gets erased and you have to start over.

Visuals
The real stars of the show though are the visuals and audio. The art direction is very good with tons of creepy environments shown under beautiful graphics with music and sounds to match the mood. You’ll be visiting swamps, run down buildings, dungeons, and even take a visit to another realm (trying to avoid spoiling what was a surprise for me). The enemy designs are awesome too and very foreboding.

Audio
The game was meant to be played with headphones because of the character’s ability so you’ll hear voices that she hears constantly throughout the game. And they did an excellent job of making it feel like they’re inside your head. Sounds like it would get really annoying, but I found it to be fine. They even give you hints during puzzles and combats. And speaking of voices, the voice acting is quite good. I found the performances to be very convincing and well acted.

Story
The main plot is simple but it’s all I needed to get invested. Basic plot is you’re trying to go to Hell to bring someone back. As you play more of the game you start to unravel bits and pieces of who this person is and even get some back story behind some of the voices in your head.

It’s not a perfect game and some might find it repetitive, but as a fan of puzzle adventures, good atmosphere and environments, exploration, and story-driven games, I’m finding it to be very good.

That’s really good since I exist under a set of headphones 90% of the time to avoid noise pollution to/from the other tenants in my flat building.

Well, you sold me on it. For some reason, I couldn’t quite get a hold of what kind of game it was and given how gorgeous it looked and how ingrained the narrative seemed to be, I just figured it was a walking simulator (a la Blair Witch, Layers of Fear, etc.). Also with the trailer for the sequel looking more gorgeous, it might be something to look forward to since I still don’t have a “next” gen console. Thanks for the run down my dude!

I really enjoy Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links, so I got a sudden urge to try the online Pokemon Trading Card Game a few days back. However, IMO, the Pokemon game is so much more tedious to play than than the YGO one, which offers an “auto-duel” mode where you can just let the computer play against itself using the deck you’ve created to build up points/rewards you can put towards getting new cards.

Also, so much of it revolves around coin flips, which is kind of lame, as it means a lot of matches just end up getting decided by luck.

It also kind of sucks that you pretty much have to win P2P matches to get enough coins for new cards. In Duel Links, they make it a lot easier to get more powerful cards by playing against the computer or just through level-up and login bonuses.

I’m still addicted to RE Village. I hate first person shooters but this game is amazing, 10/10 for me.

I’ll occasionally jump on Monster Hunter Rise (Switch) or Rogue Company (PS5) to play with friends, but I’m mostly playing RE Village. On my 3rd playthrough already

That’s perfect. This game was designed for players just like you!

That was my fear initially too. I went into it blind and it starts out like it’s gonna be one of those walking games, but thankfully the gameplay takes a shift for the better. In your defense, I don’t think the trailers really showed any gameplay. They were more of a graphical showcase.

The trailer for the second game has my so hyped up. The main character chanting like a wild beast left an impression on me. I also saw in a video that the actress for Senua and the animators for the game took sword fighting lessons. Now the actress for Senua will be doing all the moves and stunts. They do mention that if she can’t do a move, then that animation won’t be in game so I’m hoping that doesn’t end up limiting any creative ideas that they have. Kinda cool though to see this kind of dedication!

Anytime man! Let me know what you think of it once you start getting into it. As always, curious to know your thoughts.

Been back into Dark Souls 3, trying to beat Dragonslayer Armor low level to get his weapon! (haven’t done the jail part, either the giant lolz).

I’m playing Tales of Vesperia: Definitive edition on ps4.I really like the characters so far. The combat takes time to get used to, since Tales of Berseria was my first Tales of game.

Cool, Tales of Vesperia is one of my fav games. Yeah at first I also had my problems with the combats but I got used to it fast because I couldn’t stop to play it.
Hope you’ll have fun!

Started playing Groove Coaster recently, it’s pretty fun and trippy. There’s definitely some bangers in the track selection, my Piko-Piko Patriot heart approves :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I don’t think I’ve gone from hating a game to loving it and almost being in tears as much as The Last Guardian. The controls are absolutely awful but the journey is rewarding. That said, I’ll probably never play this again.

so I started Returnal this morning. I wanted it and I bought it used so it cost less and I’m happy. And wow. This game is dope haha. So hard, but so good! Imma get used to dying and starting ALL over again haha. Until I reach the first boss and beat him.

Nice! I’ve been thinking about getting it but decided to wait since my backlog is pretty huge right now. How are the adaptive triggers in the game? I’ve heard it feels pretty cool. For PS5 titles I’ve only played Astro’s Playroom, Oddworld Soulstorm and a little bit of Demon’s Souls. It’s great on Astro’s Playroom (obviously) but I thought it’s just ok on the other two games.
