I imagine X is trademarked in Japan? So it won’t matter in the US (or anywhere outside of Japan). If Yoshiki were to go to court (I don’t think he will) the end result would probably be that Musk would have to call twitter something else in Japan.
Edit: this is my assumption based on a few years of watching LegalEagle videos and nothing else. Best case scenario would be that they settled without having to go to court.
No, that’s not what it is about. Twitter is called “Twitter Japan” in Japan, so “X” in Japan would be called “X Japan”. I don’t think they could trademark that at all given the fame of the band. As for “X” only, it would be a bit more complicated to attack.
Which is the second biggest market after the US. That would be “X” failing.

The X marks his territory, because Yoshiki would never work behind the scenes. Look how his name is mentioned several times in the description of the video

To be fair, Yoshiki suing Musk for “X-Japan” branding is just like The GazettE suing people behind “the Gazette” newspaper brand, which they don’t.
