Where in The World is Yoshiki?

Not yoshiki using #elonmusk to promote the song…

I’ve been mulling over this whole TwitterX thing and honestly the best way Musk could deal with this entire situation is by giving/gifting/selling Twitter to Yoshiki.
He gets out of a shitty business deal that he didn’t want in the first place, and now that it’s rebranded Yoshiki can claim to be focusing on the platform instead and that’s why the new album’s delayed. Everybody they both win!

I am sorry, this is…too much! The concept is a mess, the song is a mess…what is Yoshiki even trying to achieve with this? Gain kpop boyband fans AND visual kei fans and milk them both?

Money.

That’s all this is and the last X Japan “releases” have been - easy cash grabs for Yoshiki (and to make him look productive).

Wasn’t that just the name of the show tho?

True, I misread it in some wiki…but was something that sounded perfect from Yoshiki :joy:

Seems the band also had their big drama with their original vocalist Yoshi dying in a car accident :no_mouth:

Not sure I would call a 19 year old dying in an accident “drama” lol

Yoshiki is once again gracing the world of film with his presence. Move over Spielberg u fuckin hack

I mean, that looked that the drama/misfortune/tragedy was “following” Yoshiki here too, nothing else… :expressionless:

so I had the XY song on loop for a few days and watched some bits of the audition show and have concluded that Yoshiki is hilarious. Dare I say he was almost a genius for trying to capitalise on k-pop fans while mixing some visual kei influence in this group? The man almost brought some life back to visual kei, almost. If only it wasn’t so messy and so Yoshiki.

He’s like a tragic hero of Greek mythology. A legendary figure often undone by his fatal flaw: ego.

That said, I dig XY. He definitely wrote CRAZY LOVE around the same time he wrote TLRS and you can tell where his headspace was. I haven’t watched much of the auditions, but are these boys actually playing instruments?

I only watched this in addition to the MV, I guess the 5 guys actually do play?

My main gripe about this group is that it doesn’t need to be this big. Even in the video they’re clearly divided into a band and dancers, why not just make them separate groups? There’s supposed to be 10 vocalists in this group but the dancers are barely lipsyncing in the video, so I assume they’re certainly not going to do anything during possible lives.
The dancers seem good so I’d hate to see their talents get wasted.

I don’t mind the song, I’ve definitely heard worse and it gets stuck in your head easily so I might eventually add it to some playlist…

Yeah, they do. He scouted a group of musicians and a group of dancers and them mashed them together into one group. The dancers are also listed as singers too, but I’m pretty sure most of them don’t actually sing. It’s kind of a mess and definitely a case of too many chefs in one kitchen.

Ppl calling this his attempt at getting Kpop fans attention are so dumb :skull:literally you guys know Kpop and jpop are both their own things right? This group is its own original concept and idea, he’s not even trying to break out in Korea with some Korean song or version of a song.

I actually watched the first few episodes of this reality show trying to practice my Japanese and the talking ranged from mindless to difficult. It was also fun to watch Yoshiki cringely interact with his American friends and sit in front of young talent like a guru and dispense wisdom.

The singer Yoshi, who tragically died in a motorcycle accident at the young age of 19, was the star of the show. They portrayed him as coming out of nowhere like a diamond in the rough and Yoshiki pretended to be blown away by him immediately. After some quick searching, he had already released two albums of music in a more pop style with probably little success and had been hustling on various entertainment ventures for a good 5-6-7 years:

The Yoshiki Superstar show was going to have two different groups… the rock band (the bassist / violinist is pretty awesome and deserves to be out of this XY band) with Yoshi fronting them - and then a dance / boy band group.

Yoshi was talented and his English was already really advanced for someone his age in Japan. Heck, he was probably conversationally better and more natural sounding than Yoshiki. The rock band would’ve been the perfect crossover that Yoshiki was probably dying to capitalize on.

After Yoshi’s death, Yoshiki or whomever in charge, decided to mash both rock and boy-band units together. The band is a complete mess now and that one song is just school talent show condensed into 4 minutes. It’s all over the place and highlights certain members individually - I can’t see how they’ll release anything coherent like an album.

As always, the winner is Yoshiki. He succeeded again in pushing his brand with this reality tv show. The young talent who have dreams and are putting hopes into this project will surely be wasting the coming months or years locked into a bad contract.

Excerpt from the Natalie article: “Yoshiki, slightly injured”

YOSHIKI (X JAPAN, THE LAST ROCKSTARS) updated his SNS to report a slight injury.

YOSHIKI is holding a dinner show “EVENING / BREAKFAST with YOSHIKI 2023 in TOKYO JAPAN, the most gorgeous DINNER SHOW in the world” at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo from August 4. During the show, he said, “I hurt myself a little while walking in the audience. Please don’t grab my hand too hard,” he posted on SNS. A few hours later, he posted, “Somehow, I’m okay. Thanks everyone. I’ll see you this weekend!” He added.

At a dinner show held four years ago in 2019, YOSHIKI’s right wrist and left thumb were sprained when fans rushed to the show and held his hands tightly. At the time, the organizers announced, "If YOSHIKI-san comes near you, please refrain from touching him unnecessarily or holding his hand or fingers tightly, as it may affect his performance.

How do people still like this dude?

Sometimes I really have hard times trying to figure out if he is a parody master… or says this kind of stuff for real.

I understand that as a pianist he needs his hands and wrists in good condition but oh man that “somehow I’m okay” makes me laugh.
No one’s forcing him to go on a stroll in the audience, he knows people are going to want to shake hands.

edit: I want this gif to be visible damn it

“please wrap your hands in several layers of $100 bills if you’re going to touch, and be gentle… no skin contact with the peasants…”
