They had many Japanese artists at MAMA this year, more than usually, so id assume that’s why they invited Yoshiki to perform. It was great! Seeing the idols and fans singing along to an X Japan song was amazing

what the heck is an “Galaxy Neo Flip Artist”?
It’s just a promo thing to promote a new Samsung phone, it’s not a real award. I think they just take pictures with the phones and post them online for fans
because its “Mnet ASIAN Music Awards” and last time i checked Japan still belongs to Asia. But oh hey… its from MNet, an korean company who profits if the korean acts looks better than those from other countries.

Also… where are the nominees for that international award (if you have them, please feel free to tell me, who yoshiki was up against)
Also its not Yoshiki his first time being buddies with the kpop industry. Did you all forget that he produced TRAX together with SM entertainment?
But all in all, Yoshiki who is a “scarf lady” in europe and basically a nobody in the US getting an international awards just feels off.
And it makes me feel a little more like it was made to elevate the korean acts, because “look, they are up against an international act who is basically old and is less known than all our korean acts”
But hey, at least everyone seemed to have fun.
The whole event is sponsored by Samsung, thats why they get their extra award catergory i suppose.
Maybe the problem was more getting all those korean artists to fly over to japan

Yet it’s a Kpop award show. It always has been, but hey yall don’t also like Kpop like I do so you wouldn’t know that! Also maybe it’s called that because it’s held at different countries in Asia every year. This year it was in Japan, explaining all the Japanese artists
Yoshiki on the other hand is doing better than the ppl in this thread that “hate” him but reply to every post abt him! He got that award and he deserves it

Oh funny, You know i was around when Suju’s sorry, sorry was a big hit. Certain things havent changed since then.
And in case of the award show, i will hold it forever against them that they call it asian, meanwhile being a korean show. 
For me Yoshiki is just entertainment, like watching a soap opera.
So you were a fan back then but didn’t know they change it to Asian awards because they were expanding outside of Korea venue wise? It’s always a Kpop show. They just travel around to give other countries a chance to see it, they plan on expanding to US too. Maybe you should catch up on some homework!!

Thanks for the intake, i will stay by the stance that calling it Asian is and will be forever missleading.
And surely Yoshiki full deserved that award after mixing one and the same song for 5 years. 
(any normal audio engineer would have ended up on the street with that tempo)
I’m just setting the record straight bc some sad ppl here said it’d be a dead crowd and he wouldn’t get anything out of it, when in fact he got a very alive crowd and an award!

Yeah – admittedly I’m not sure I think that Endless Rain needed a rap, but they all did great and it’s a gorgeous stage. Yoshiki’s styling is divine too.
