DIR EN GREY new single "19990120" release

A tough guy in a tracksuit would never use “boku.”

It’s just so funny to me because I generally try and avoid getting into the whole thirst aspect of VK and especially Diru fandom xD

Bassboi just does a thing for me though. Probably because I’m also a bassist by training hahaha

I wonder what is removed from the song for the “promotional” edition.

The middle.

The piano version in the begining sounds really nice.

Eh. Kyo doesn’t sound very inspired here at all.

Also, the sample replacement for Shinya’s drums just get worse and worse. Snare sounds like he’s hitting a bath towel with a 2x4.

Not sorry when i say this but DEG could’ve kept this one.

This sounds VERY lifeless…

Lately when it comes to their remakes, the mix sounds so damn lifeless. If I had no idea who Dir was, and you threw this on, i would’ve thought this was something someone recorded using guitar/drum plugins.

I am disappointed by this remake, I don’t know whether it’s my nostalgia speaking or what but the original remains unmatched IMO, this version sounds kind of dull and flat to me

I’m saving my disappointment for any blast beat they’re gonna try to put in Zan.

Lifeless version… I prefer the original vers. But at least the guys pre order that release can like.
I’m glad I didn’t buy that single.

The best ever!

Of course this remake cannot surpass the original version, I liked the little changes here and there. Overall it’s not that great tho

little changes:

Intro Piano version to give a kind of “new air”… Typical and lyrical changes.

I will not count the audio quality we have today compared to 25 years ago.

Thats it!

dir en grey is the star wars of visual kei

no lyrical changes except for the pronoun change tho

also, at the end, there’s no “la la la la la”, but a … “suu~”? I think?

I like the few changes, but this mix is sooooooo bad. I think it will work much better live, but a shame the studio ver. sucks

also, I was kinda hoping they would break apart yurameki and build something new and interesting, but it’s the same song with an interesting new intro and an bad mix

I’m VERY much here for this. Loved that intro. Gave us something new but it’s all 100% in the spirit and respectful of the original. Can’t wait to hear the full version and the rest of the tracks even more now!

I LOVE the arrangement.

This version is going to sound incredible live. I probably prefer the original as a studio take, but this is going to be vastly superior live.

It’s more subtle, the instruments have room to “breathe” (aside from the loud drums), and it’s understated in a way you’d expect from mature songwriters revisiting old material.

This is really a slight change.

They dont have that daring to do so… could be a disaster. But the mix is really bad, thats why i dont like this vers.
