Hello there :)

Hi all!

After spending the last days getting absorbed in this discussion board and finding myself so often wanting to add my opinion I decided to join
Usually, I am not the type to participate in forums (but I do like to read them) but I really like the whole vibe here - pretty chill and mature (in a good way), not much drama or trolling.
Initially, i found this forum in search of information for the upcoming Nightmare Europe Tour, to which I also bought tickets.

I am from Germany and I just recently started to listen to VK and J Rock more again. I used to listen to that kind of music a lot from my early to mid or late twenties. At this time, I downloaded albums over a period of many days via soulseeker, limewire, etc. as there was no other way to listen to such music - that should give you a rough idea about my age

I never totally abandoned that kind of music, but I didn’t really kept up to date with the whole scene, new artists and stuff, listening only to the old stuff I already knew from time to time. Now, I want to listen more to japanese music again, discover new (or at least new to me) artists and, if possible, want to attend concerts.

Looking forward to having a good time here

You’re at the right place to discover more music. If you ever need help, we have trade off and playlists ready for you to get into some new music

Thank you

What I learned so far is that it seems like Spotify might be a good source to discover new bands, but youtube has a much bigger selection. Most of the artists I used to listen to when I first started enjoying VK and J Rock are unfortunately not included in the Spotify catalogue.

Welcome welcome, fellow German

Same here. I joined the forum about a year ago after a time of only following some old faves very loosly.

This is the best place to start
Maybe we run into each other at the Nightmare concert

If it helps anything we have two different threads with playlists

A bunch of them is on YouTube too.
Personally I am usually fine with Spotify, but I am the VK fan and I know a lot of VK bands don’t put their music on Spotify or it’s only half on it, so yeah YouTube is usually still the better choice

Welcome!! Nightmare!!! I’m glad!! I recently got into them and I was worried a little that it was a gamble to do a Europe tour but I’m so happy so many folks are planning to go, including you. What other bands do you listen to?

Finally I can answer, I already reached my limit of daily posts yesterday at around lunch time :joy:

It seems surprisingly common to return to this kind of music after some time of semi-absence :slightly_smiling_face: I read something along those lines quite a few times in this forum.

Would be nice to met people with a similar taste in music - in the “offline world” I don’t know anyone who listens to japanese music

I do hope that their Europe tour sells well - they can then tell there musician friends about it so they know that Europe is worth a tour

I listen mostly to Miyavi’s old stuff, Malice Mizer (mostly Klaha Era), Moi Dix Mois, lynch., Hazuki, Kaya, Schwarz Stein and Közi’s Stuff. But a lot of the time I only like a few songs of a band or an artist so I wouldn’t consider myself a fan of them  For example, I loooove Plastic Tree’s “Barrier”, it is one of my favourite songs from this music genre. There are also some other songs of them I like but most of them are just okay for me. But I really want to get to know more bands and artists.

I will be at the Hamburg show :slightly_smiling_face: I live near Hamburg and it’s on a saturday, so it fits. Which show do you plan to attend?
