Is Yoshiatsu being irresponsible with his fans?

Who would’ve thought that shitty behaviour has its consequences (!), now the possible overseas tour and the potential of both projects are in jeopardy. sigh.

I hope Killing Daze are able to investigate and verify things properly, won’t be an easy job with all this hearsay.

Nevermind everything was posted above

Holy hell, this went south quick.

Yeah, I can only imagine that Yoshiatsu must be stressed out enough about this to cancel a show in Fukuoka, where VK tourists rarely go.

Part of this may have reached the Japanese fanbase, too. Which, if it did, may cause them to bring up old stuff about him too.

It has and it has.

Was also surprised about the Fukuoka cancellation, it doesn’t surprise me that Killing Daze is being serious but Japan sadly tries very hard to sweep things under the rug a lot of the time.

But yes, these new screenshots make the message clearer, even if this individual situation has gotten muddier.

Some things just aren’t yours to share. When we say “believe victims”, that means that we believe people who are telling their own story. Not a telephone chain of people saying “a friend of a friend was doing x with Y and now they’re messed up!”

Why it is so hard for these idiots to not be a creep wierdo?

Public Relations 101: don’t talk to minors

How many cases do we need till they learn? It sucks that visual kei is so welcoming to minors and the disenfranchised cause it leaves them vulnerable to these losers.

If you are a young’un, please listen to me: The bandoman does not likes you. If you are looking to belonging, find community in the people that also enjoy the music that you like, but does not seek a relationship of any kind with band members. It ALWAYS has ended badly, every few months we find ourselves talking about a new shitty guy

It might be me, but these things always need to be handled with care.
Let’s look at both sides and make sure nothing has been manipulated, exaggerated, or taken out of context, and that legal action is taken.
Let’s also be responsible for our opinions and their consequences. There’s a fine line between truth and defamation.
I also recommend it in this forum, since it’s public and we can spread the word more than expected.

Actually I didn’t know anything about Yoshiatsu since years ago when the screenshots of him were posted. He didn’t want paying for the abortion of his tsunagari after removing condom without consent.

Anyways, I remember read about him messaging mainly to underage girls on ig and my online friend tried to message him but he canceled the videocall.

I’m disappointed but not surprised

So much this. It genuinely makes my chest ache to see this happen to teens new to the scene. That said, I think it’s true for everyone, really. Young people are particularly susceptible but I don’t think older gya are immune to it at all.

Despite the record label and band statements, this does definitely read like a Wattpad fanfic and unfortunately anytime something comes out online even if it’s true or not there’s such an extreme reaction that statements have to be made. also most bandomen are shit anyways so whatever happens, happens.

KillingDaze added a statement

And to be honest, they are a company, in their situation I understand that they need any certainty that something happened, not some hearsay.

Yoshiatsu teased a big overseas tour next year for Fukuro, so no doubt KD team must be frantic atm :frowning: (And no doubt DRUGS are/were also planned)

Looks like they’re looking into the EU Tour as well

I feel it’s so difficult to make people who already have a certain reputation in such a small scene, and whose behavior is now more than just a rumor, face real consequences, because it’s hard to report them and there will always be blinded and naive people. It’s about always playing on the edge of legality, making many vague posts that can be interpreted in many ways helping strengthening parasocial dynamics.

In my eyes, for example (and surely among the veteran fans), this fixation on clown makeup thing was a clear indication of a fetish, but since it’s difficult to prove an instinct, it remains there, in speculation.

And since the guy overflows with talent and charisma, there’s always that aspect that somewhat shields him from all the crap lurking under the surface.

At this point, I still think that even if there’s a history and a lot of truth to how this guy treats his fans in private, he could get away with it due to a lack of clear evidence… or whatever tbh.

It’s a pessimistic comment i know, but i had to vent

Maybe I misread you but I don’t really see how that’s relevant honestly? I have no strong positive or negative feelings about clowns, but if someone gets off to them, that’s none of my business.

It’s the whole grooming naive and vulnerable fans thing that’s awful.

Sorry if I didn’t word it better.

It was a part touched in the screenshots.

The precedents are, he has done multiple posts about liking and encouraging fans (and then correcting himself, “no minors!!!”) showing up at shows using clown makeup. Many users said it was a weird thing to do, but it was always vague and fans said it was part of his band stuff etc etc.

Ah, no, my bad, I did know that, I just didn’t connect it. Yeahhhh that’s icky.

Yes, it was him trying to collect things to “use for later” (when it came to encouraging overseas fans to send him pictures), or him trying to identify which fans were “down to clown” during lives. This is not to be confused with being “down with the clown”, which has a completely different meaning.

I think wrt fetish content it’s not the intent and audience that matters more than the content. I can’t fault him for making art that’s so obviously that, even tho i don’t share his interest in the slightest and find it upsettingly uncanny in the way i imagine it always might when looking at a fetish you don’t share. For this reason i don’t like seeing pictures of him, personally, and had no interest to rewatch PVs like Dendrobium where he’s got it on, tho i enjoyed all the others of Dadaroma.

Drugs is so clearly a fetish band and if they treated it as 18+ maybe i would have zero problem. Wataru Shindo has his whole ass out in every photo and does the rope stuff too. I’m into none of that from guys, yet as an adult with nothing to gain or lose by interacting with them, i can make the choice to consume art with elements i don’t aesthetically enjoy and look past them.

So the issue is in crossing THAT barrier. By making any part of this band’s interaction accessible to minors is a problem bc minors don’t know they’re exposed to and asked to produce fetish content for an adult. I have to interject and say i personally have no knowledge of him asking for that from minors, so i’m neither trying to accuse nor exonerate here; like everybody says all this is about much more than simply Yoshiatsu.

I think a band with art like Drug’s isn’t compatible with vkei behaviour, and proceeding as such opens channels to irresponsible harms. Note that i don’t have to say Yoshiatsu is evil, malicious, actively seeking harms etc to say this is how this band can cause some. The opening of this avenue at all is the problem, i think this is true no matter how many harmful acts came from it.

In another universe maybe he did his clown band, restricted it to 18+, explicitly informed potential viewers this was pornographic for his enjoyment, and never made any sort of interaction with anyone who might not fully consent in clear and mature state of mind, as peers, without the power imbalance of young fan and artist. Wow, that’s a lot of caveats.

But i write this to say my thoughts are it’s not the content that stresses me out, bc concentrating on that might facilitate the same abuse of power with content flying under radars, but rather the behaviors and structures an artist and their management can choose to build and what that leaves doors open to.

Please note i’m STILL not commenting on a single thing other than what the band publishes themselves and how they publish it. We’re all talking about it ofc bc of the posts but i don’t even know where to begin thinking what to make of those. Happy to see management is taking it seriously and shutting everyone up while they open submissions for investigation.
