In my opinion, no to IBIM and yes to IC. Gosh IC sounds so scooped! IBIM sounds fine to me but I’d love to hear them take another crack at it.
Really? I’m curious as to why you think so.
I think it’s produced fairly well.
I’d put my money on at least one more double-album remake before a new actual album. Inferiority and IBIM are both great and could use a facelift.
In my opinion Hazuki executed his writing style really well in ULTIMA. I’d describe his style as straight-forward, melodic heaviness. Majority of the songs have a fast and abrasive nature but they don’t get stale because they’re characterized by catchy rhythms and melodies. Hazuki has a real talent for writing good melodies. Even though the songs have their distinctions, they don’t feel so different that they don’t seem like they belong together.
I quite like Hazuki’s vocals on the album too. He widens his range more than in other releases. Of course I’m referring to the low growls in ALLERGIE and MACHINE which I don’t think he did prior to this album. Contrast that with his higher, breathier vocals in ZINNIA. I find the difference very nice.
The guitar work throughout the album is also pretty great, but I think that’s to be expected.
Honestly I’d say that ULTIMA has the old lynch. spirit with the modern lynch. sound.
I tried listen to alot of the new stuff, is Lynch one of those bands you should just listen to sometimes lol? After i listened to many songs in a row they all started to sound the same. I think one point is that he sings the chorus the same way in most songs. Maybe im trippin?
All good, you have good ears
This is exactly how their late work is. I don’t mind it, but it is what it is.
If you want to give them another try, check out greedy dead souls, their first album, ideally the first (real) version of it. Their first five albums were imho a lot more interesting before they got settled into their niche.
Everything Gallows and on, they swapped microphonic drums for triggers, and their songwriting leveled out - i don’t mind it at all and enjoy them like rewatching vkei The Office, but gds → Inferiority Complex is where their ambition and best songwriting remains.
The thing is, that their past 5 albums sounded like that too
ever since they stopped releasing singles/b-side tracks, they typically record one fresh song along with 7-9 tracks that are practically composed to replace the album before without changing much. it works for their fans, I guess.
Spent some time with SHADOWS today. Hoping Hazuki can nail the gutturals on SHADOWZ this time around.
From the end going to make me cry again
As a hazuki fanboy I certify all the comments with my stamp of approval what a lovely discussion everyone is awesome
I hope they keep their generic-ness (bc I believe that is their true formula) and throw in the additions learned from ULTIMA and their later releases which I feel Bringer absolutely is hence my excitement!
For his independent releases I do like HEROINE & XANADU
Also I think he is just generally a person all about improving and growing. Their energy is def about the strength to move forward. Hazuki as an individual is like this so theyre all about re-releasing, mastering, him pushing his voice again like in those solo orchestral pieces he did. I watched or read something? where he mentions being given up by his parents and raised by his grandmother. Worked odd part time jobs always wanting music. I think the guy is just milking himself but for the right reasons lmaoooo
I LOVE HAZUKIIIIIIIIIIII
Love your enthusiasm! I have always felt Hazuki is a pretty genuine guy. You can see it in his face. He’s in a big band, but likes to spend his time doing live streams with his peers. Goes out fishing on the weekend and gives us insights into his down time.
He’s relatable, where bigger band front men are out of reach. I appreciate him and his work ethic. One of the many reasons I continue to support lynch.
Thank you my friend, nice to hear that background of him and I agree its interesting he can be so human and also so visual kei is a nice view and makes me think…..
I think the production on both IBIM and IC were horrid, despite my appreciation for both releases (IC more). I think both could use a serious retouch.
Im watching Lynch.’s The Shadow Impulse live.
I forgot how much more beautiful I DONT KNOW WHERE I AM is live.
ONLY A FEW MORE DAYS…
These sound pretty good so Im more excited for Shadows. His english also got better O-o
They all sound fantastic. Very excited for the new liberation chord and cultic
