ppl: kpop is lacking in clownery
me watching this interview in which my idols talk about excess bathing decreasing sperm count (followed by an its okay I may need to lower mine anyways comment) and tips to avoid getting scammed in the maplestory remake : well … maybe
Do you know that feeling when you try to get into a band and you really want to like them but it judt does not click?
I recommend all albums released until 2006.
Yes and it’s annoying
But I am a loser and usually just give up at one point
one month of dipping my toes in the cool new social media everyone is hyped about did not disappoint tbh:
Not really because I usually don’t do.
That’s why I’m not sure, if I don’t do know that feeling or just would describe it differently.
Like in, I tried several times to listen to Sendai Kamotsu but nope, never did it click, I just can’t stand the singing. By now I’m not even trying anymore. It’s been the same about Angelo, I don’t like Kirito’s voice while the music was good. I tried with several years of pause in between from different releases. I decided that it’s fine. I don’t have to like every band and even though seemingly everyone else likes one or because there’s some other kinda connection I don’t see a sense to either try and try and try or, if this doesn’t work, being upset with myself.
Maybe that’s what you mean and we just describe that feeling in different ways.
bluesky is a pleasant experience when you spend about an hour blacklisting a shitton of phrases and buzzwords. also, they have a pretty good filter system for nsfw stuff. sometimes, i just don’t want to see a dude’s junk at like 1pm on a thursday afternoon when i’m bored at work lol
Yeah that’s exactly what I mean. Especially seemingly everyone else liking the artist ![]()
I also love the follow and block lists you can make on Bsky
I’m part of some Live2D rigger (VTuber stuff) lists for people to follow, so I get new connections from there!
Also being able to block a whole lot of bots, AI posters, Cryptobros, etc is so nice
nnnn I have very demure home of sexuals on my account, they mostly post tarot spreads and stuff like that
I was v. pleasantly surprised when it figured out I didn’t want to see hundreds of anthro dog benis pictures w/o having to mute furry tags specifically, that was really cool.
I wish their system was just as smart with political shitpost accounts ppl set-up there
Random tale of gender dysphoria OTD I decided to take part in a chat room to practice japanese but arrived late so I didnt realize the kind of environment (whoops me being a terrible jp person wannabe lol great gaijin gyaru tjough ) and the moment I open my mouth to introduce myself I feel the air of whoops this is Full of 18 yo weeb types and I am a woman with a feminine voice lol feels awk but at least I had the 30+ old lady pass. Younger me probably wouldnt have thought of lying for the pass though (Thanks autism
) so it would have been super umcomfortable
I miss Jack Caper. Their stuff was the perfect balance of stupid fun and genuinely catchy for my taste. There are lots of groups with similar aesthetics or a similar sense of humour, but I haven’t really found any other VK bands that hit the same way for me since. It always feels off somehow.
Hi guys, my first post here. I’m glad there’s still some alive forum community centered around jrock & similar stuff. I will not be very active but I will try to contribute something when I’m hit by old times’ nostalgia once in every couple of months.
Random thoughts:
There was a jrock party in Warsaw on 30.11, couldn’t go because a weekend solo trip to the default Polish city just for this event was not a good idea, people had fun and they actually showed up AFAIK so I’m glad. I was a little afraid because previous edition (this was a second one) was a day after DEG concerts, so it had a better chances for success (and it was fun, I was there).
It pains me a little that a similar j-rock “revival” party in Krakow bombed not long ago, so I guess it’s a long trip to Warsaw or nothing. But I’m glad there’s something in Poland and some people here still remember VK.
I also didn’t know at least half of the songs that played at the first edition, I guess they were released after I stopped following the scene. This would match the situation of some girl talking to me there like I’m an old guy (a variation of “mister”) and me automatically aging 5 years more in that moment. Still hurts.
But Gackt’s Vanilla was there and it was glorious.
I cannot get into new NoGoD after Shingeki and it hurts, as they still are one of my favourite bands. I will always be thankful for their early bangers. But the line-up changes were not for the better.
I have a weird fondness of old Vistlip but I cannot explain it in any way. When I try to analyze their songs in some more meaningful way they are nothing special but I’ll take them any day over some way more popular bands that didn’t click with me. That’s the magic of music for you I guess!
Thanks for the space and have a nice day ![]()
Happy Birthday, Isshi. Are you well up there? Someday I’ll be brave enough to visit the wasabi farm.
What wasabi farm???
Daio Wasabi farm! Nothing that he’s mentioned directly regarding the farm, but it’s home to a deity shrine he’s considered as his ancestor, the hachiman daio, which he did mention in a particular material. I’ll send up some links and edit this with more detail later as I’m afk rn, but the very sweet admin/translator of the fansite demonpassion brought up this point to me!
Edit:
@rukarukaruka ok here it is!
Some fans years ago asked if there was some way they could pay respects to Isshi’s grave in the (now overrun by bots) FB group. While, of course, we can’t possibly do that, a possible alternative is to visit the Daio Wasabi Farm in a really far-off corner of Matsumoto in Nagano. There is a shrine there to Hachimen Daio (Hachiman Daioh?), whom Isshi considers to be his ancestor.
I asked more about this, so Demonpassion’s admin linked this translation of a particular column(?) that he did for Shoxx. I don’t think I should wholesale copy-paste it here so please have a look at the link!
The wasabi farm has an IG (should be daiowasabifarm), and its food looks really delicious. It’s really far inside Matsumoto, though. You have to take the local line and either bike or take a taxi from the station to the farm. I feel like tour groups have been adding this as a spot, too. Maybe this will be the one thing that will convince me to join a tour group one day, lmao.
I wasn’t feeling too good when I was in Nagano earlier this year (it feels like my entire Japan trip was just riddled with anxiety), so I only managed a short visit to Matsumoto itself. It was still really beautiful:") hopefully, one day!
i’ve found myself thinking of isshi over the last few days because of @Raum and their post on here about poland. when i heard news of isshi’s passing back then, i was in warsaw so that will always remind me of him. that is so sweet though. a wasabi farm ![]()

Interesting! I remember reading that entry when i used to check demonpassion regularly. Had no idea the oni was real though, i never looked it up.
I also visited matsumoto last year on a little day trip. I wanted to see where isshi grew up. I remember reading somewhere that his real surname was 塩原, and when i was walking around there i saw a kimono shop with that same surname. It’s probably unrelated, but i do wish i could find more about his roots somehow.
I wish i’d learned about the wasabi farm earlier! I had 2 weeks off last month and had plenty of time to make the trip. If you ever come back to japan and decide to go to matsumoto, hit me up! I’ll join you haha
Me and my coworkers “relationship” has progressed to the point that others are making fun of us for being “a couple”. Lord have mercy I can already smell the drama that is yet to come.
Me 10 year ago: spending money on Japanese music more than clothes
Me right now: spent 30k on lolita accessories just because “I need that good looking head dress from THIS brand in THIS color way, and I really HOPE it will fit the color of the main piece”
