sukekiyo to release new music & video compilation EROSIO and will tour in August

I personally think Moan is just okay, not that memorable. But yeah its pretty solid.

Btw the new song premiers soon guys, do we have a hype train going on in here or what?

Damn that music video made my brain melt, too much use of the spinng effect tbh.

The song cant be judged after only one listen, no way, but I think I liked it. I didn’t really get what part was the chorus though during the first listen.
Kyo definitely had fun recording the video. He seemed to be in a really good mood that day, looked into the camera and even smiled. Not everyday you get to see that.

What do you guys think?

I still might not get the song, does it have a chorus?

The vertigo effect in the pv makes me feel sick after all, damn.

Somehow for me personally this album might be shaping up to be a bit weak. I also found moan to be a bit weak.

But the new song might be a grower. But what a weird song lol.

Based on this thread, looks like opinions are split pretty evenly down the middle. I think it’s great to see a VK (?) band utilize this style to their benefit. sukekiyo has always been experimental and that’s what keeps them fresh and interesting in my opinion.

Was not expecting a 9:00+ track first thing this morning. Love the choreography, video and song are both amazing af. Very excited for the new release.

Chorus is good, instrumental parts are good. I wish for them to ditch Kyo and either go instrumental or grab a better vocalist, but eh.

If before I was only curious in their album takes of Rongai and Aishita, now I’m curious about the rest as well.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Sukekiyo. The music is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of musical theory most of the songs will go over a typical listener’s head. There’s also Kyo’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his lyrics - his personal philosophy draws heavily from George Romero, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these songs, to realize that they’re not just funky - they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Sukekiyo truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Kyo’s existencial catchphrase “girigiri DARLING,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Jodorowsky’s Mexican epic Santa Sangre. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those Toriko simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Kyo’s genius unfolds itself through their speakers. What fools… how I pity them. :joy: And yes by the way, I DO have a Pun-chan tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

I like that two of kyo’s bands make nods to 2000s deg with their summer PVs

The part from 2:50 feels like chorus to me

i think the song is pretty good but wow those ai-generated-looking filters are so jarring, my head hurts lol

It’s a progressive song that meanders through evolving verses rather than following a conventional song structure. My quick analysis is that it’s three main verses (A - “bug crawls”, B - “Absolute Happiness Theory”, C - “the girl next door is the disturbance”), the instrumental break in the middle, then ABC once more. So it’s really a sandwich.

That they can do both this and the more traditional verse refrain pop song exemplified by MOAN is a flex of their songwriting chops. Since they chose these as the singles, I’m very curious to know what they’re cooking for the rest of the album songs.

They really ought to hit up Kyo from Petit Brabancon. That guy has some serious range.

The new song is quite intriguing! It will take multiple listens to settle on an opinion, but for now I’m enjoying it mildly more than MOAN. The video is pretty nice for the most part too (shoutout to the one guitarist looking like early '90s Inoran), I just wish they forgot this AI diarrhea imagery…

One thing’s for sure, the album’s shaping up to be another exciting entry in their catalogue! You can say whatever about them, but they’re never boring, so only for that they are still one of the top VK acts active today for me.

Well…

The MV is beautiful thats something i need admit.

The song… quite okay but nothing too much impressive, to be a leader song from this album its kind of meh.

I hope there will be more interesting songs on this album. Because the cost of the album is above expectations.

This song is pretty much what I was hoping for to be on the album, only about twice as long, which makes it even better. Only 2 listens in, but enjoying every second of it.
I just hope there will be a proper transition in the album from the moans and candises to these kinda songs, so that it doesn’t feel like a compilation, but like an actual album.
