sukekiyo

Pointless observation: all their major releases have a song with a female name.

Celeste is a name? not a color?

It’s both. From the Latin caelestis meaning ‘heavenly’ or ‘of the sky’.

‘Scarlet’ is also a name, a colour, and a sukekiyo song.

I wonder what kind of dumb pack-in bonus we’ll get with the inevitable live Erosio…I think it’s time for a sukekiyo coffee table book.

Edit: I also think a sukekiyo wind vane would be pretty neat

I was watching the making of video for Visitor X last night and was thinking how similar the shooting style is to this (now 20 years old) music video by The Smashing Pumpkins.

I wonder if the director was inspired.

Ah man, not really a fan of smashing pumpkins but that song and video were both so good!

Billy Corgan is visual kei.

Is this famous or something? Not too familiar with them. Has he said himself that he/his band is visual Kei?

He’s the frontman of Smashing Pumpkins and he’s arguably done some Kyoesque looks. Though I’ll say anyone who isn’t in a black windbreaker or is wearing even a hint of makeup visual kei.

He’s the midwestern Kyo we need, but not the one we deserve.

Someone said something about Houmonsha X being sukekiyo’s “Vinushka”. If anything, ANYTHING, its their Macabre/Higeki.

Mika is such a dope drummer. He had his moments in Rentrer en Soi, but he never really started going off until Sukekiyo. Most importantly he’s great live too. Out of the three bands Kyo is in, he’s easily my favorite.

I was just talking about this too. I’m so glad he gets moments to really shine in Sukekiyo.

On a separate note. Does anyone know what Kasa Gasa means?

It’s probably just a soundword for the crawling bugs.

Both are incredibly passionate, driven individuals, albeit for different reasons.

Kyo is generally modest and camera-shy. He clearly struggles with much inner turmoil and exorcises his demons through expressive and artistic stage performance.

Billy Corgan is a narcissistic asshole whose only purpose in making music seems to be to make himself look better in his eyes. He can’t accept that his best work is behind him, despising fans of his older material (he calls them various names like “Siamese Zombies”). He constants shit-talks people who question anything and has taken to surrounding himself with ‘yes-men’. Many of his former band-mates refuse to have anything to do with him and his tremendous ego.

This is coming from someone who is a huge fan of pre-breakup Smashing Pumpkins (some of the new stuff is okay; I like Oceania). I am not a fan of Billy Corgan.

It would be pretty cool if Kyo, like Billy Corgan, expanded his ventures into the world of pro wrestling. I see a lot of potential in that prospect.

The only definition I know for “kasa” is “umbrella”, but “gasa” is a word used for the police searching someone’s home. Within the context of the song, that at least makes a lot of sense.

“Kasa” has other meanings too, but I can’t really get them to fit in with “gasa”. You never really know with Kyo anyway. Dude is constantly making up his own language.

Interesting, that’s a good clue into the wordplay here. Kasakasa and gasagasa are both onomatopoeiae that invoke dryness and roughness, respectively. There’s a rendaku sort of effect that muddies the second ka into ga, enabling this pun.

I believe that’s “zoro zoro”, which Kyo uses later in the song.

“zorozoro” is the sound of a huge crowd gathering, hmm… “kasagasa” seemingly doesn’t seem to be a thing, actually xD
