Ah good observation!
Does anyone know what dogma is abt? Isit abt religions and following social norms?
Take a look at this masterpost. No matter if you’re asking about the song itself or the album, you’ll find an explanation there.
I don’t know. It seems quite a reach. Drawing crosses under eyes seems to be an cliche in vk, and the red hair is more hide. than anything else. Also the special edition albuns doesn’t have nothing similar beyond being red.
The skirt is quite similar tho, I’ll give you that
the skirt seems to be designer or designer-inspired. probably was the most fashionable thing back in the early 2010s.
the (ugly) kpop boy with red hair picture is not dated, but Ruki had worn vermillion hair on and off since their inception in 2002, and Aoi had red/pink hairdye in Vortex MV in 2012, very clearly referencing hide haircut and style
similarly, whoever made this slept on 11 years of gazette before 2013, the skirt over tights look is basically office dress-code for Uruha and Aoi throughout half of their career.
they did try to appeal to more EDM/kpop leaning crowd during that era, but their sound at that time reflected it stronger than their looks.
But G-DRAGON (from BIG BANG group) is so popular(more popular than the GazettE) in Japan around that time(until now).I’m not surprised if RUKI also took influence from him. Even other VK artist also admitted copying his style e.g. Tsuzuku from MEJIBRAY and Takeru from SuG.
Btw I’m a super big fan of the GazettE since 2007.I grew up Listening to them. And I know “ALL” of their song.
I’m neither in tzk, nor sug fandoms, so I wouldn’t know, but the male dress thing - and this completely flipped out of my head last night - if it’s not gender dysphoria related, every black skirt on a guy you’re seeing owes it to Mana’s gothic lolita style making the look a thing around 2001, give or take a couple years
if you think tsuzuku is the first VK personality to wear a white extension piece on the front well… whatever affirms your stanning <3 I think gdragons look in the white suite is inspired by beyonce’s sweaty tour wigs.
the respirator look in VK has been done several times, I can think of both megamasso doing it (viper MV, 2015) and d.i.d. having a gas mask tour attire shortly before disbanding, but neither are particularly original
Both Tsuzuku(hair extension)and Takeru (especially solo project) already stated in an interview(I can’t remember which interview because I read it years ago…) that they’re both influence their style from G-DRAGON.
I wonder if playing guitars was a thing the GazettE did first, too.
Speaking of, is Aoi still playing S7s?
well tzk is still active in VK, after taking a break from this scene for a few years, here’s his current project:
do you think he still gets inspiration from kpop? I think his eyes look vaguely Asian, and that reminds me of g dragon a lot because he looks kinda korean but I’m not sure idk
Yes, I’m still following him on Instagram.
Looking to his current style maybe he no longer into G-DRAGON but more into Marilyn Manson…haha.
Btw He used to copy RUKI too during in his MEJIBRAY era. XD
The G-Dragon influence is very plausible.
When I was keeping up with Ruki’s socials way back when that’d be the kind of stuff he’d listen to. The man and the band in general isn’t above lifting a few things here and there, like imo the mass cover idea is lifted from lil peep’s goth angel sinner (he’s known to have been a fan, otherwise the gas station idea isn’t copyrighted to peep or anything, but I mean the Heresy logo is clearly from Manson imo so this dude uses his listening habits as a collage material for the band’s image/black moral merch desigs)
Ruki wore red velvet suits before (2005) Big Bang were founded (2006). The Cockroach suit has a different cut but he is still the OG red velvet guy. So you could also make the point of G-Dragon taking Inspiration from Ruki.
As someone mentioned before the redish hair could be hide inspiration. Especially because he also had a fluffy coat photo series.
The thing is most styles are not a completely new idea at this point. Everything is inspired by something. No art is created in a vacuum. Maybe G-Dragon took inspiration on hide and ruki took Inspiration from G-Dragon or both took it from hide. Who knows.
Ruki is very inspired by hide and seems to admire him a lot. I mean, he publish a instagram post on hides birthday every year, and quoting the song LAST HEAVEN. If the song itself is about hide, I am not sure, but I’ve heard that it is.
I also remember that insane rumor from years ago that they were related, but let’s just ignore that
And especially Ruki admires hide (or whatever else you wanna phrase it, he’s posting ever 12.14 like the fanboy he is and that is great).
(Alright, I shouldn’t type before reading everything, I just see now that @Riku basically said the same things.)
i personally like ‘ibitsu’ and ‘remember the urge’ also ‘RED’ they just have such a good vibe …honestly their entire disco is a masterpiece but id choose these 3
it looks like a direct rip off from this CD cover -
but good for his label for ordering a sculpting mold?
gazette at least deviated from stealing somebody’s core idea if you think they duped 3D sculpturing from his.
another band doing a 3D mold in 2001:
