I’m playing Ni no Kuni 2 right now and can’t believe how much better it is than the first game of the series. I did not finished the predecessor (tbh I probably only played it for like 5 hoursor so) because it felt way to grindy for me.
Stuck at Radahn phase 2 in the DLC with no shield and summons lmao. NG+13 DLC+ difficulty is insane, but it’s super fun when you have learned all the moveset and how to dodge it all in phase 1.
Hope I will beat him soon so that I can help others fight against him without using a shield, but it may take another thousand attempts haha.
So I’m playing Nine Sols now, and it never ceases to amaze me how people still manage to create such unique and unforgettable gaming experiences in this niche metroidvania sub-genre. On the surface it’s a mix of Hollow Knight and Sekiro, but there’s so much more to it than that. Really really loving it. I’m at the final boss now and still have hours of gameplay ahead of me because of how hard it is. I am barely able to beat the 1st phase, but the 2nd phase just insta kills me 4/5 times. And I’ve yet to see its 3rd phase I think this is going to be a much tougher boss than even Isshin.
Hell yeah! I finally beat Radahn in NG+13 DLC+ without a shield and summons. The difficulty was fcking insane especially his long nonstop combos. You can’t get hit twice consecutively or you’ll be dead. I feel like I’ve experienced the hardest difficulty the DLC has to offer now.
Silent Hill 2 is such a great remake. I haven’t felt uneasy playing a game since maybe Signalis. They got it down in nearly all the right places.
The exploration aspect I enjoyed, the combat was surprisingly good and challenging, the graphics a huge polish from the original, and the sound design impeccable. The way they balanced new elements with the original like with enemy variants, adjusted puzzles, etc. was good too.
I think this is about as good as anyone could’ve remade a modern Silent Hill game without making old fans upset or boring new players. I certainly wasn’t. I hear people saying it’s too long, which I kinda agree with, but I’m just happy to be back in this town within a good game.
Yeah they nailed the visceral feel. Shooting and melee are simple but feel hectic and impactful. The environments are so claustrophobic and nerve wracking. Coupled with the sound design, the atmosphere was always tense and uncomfortable.
The way they revamped boss battles are also so good. I had a good time going through each one.
I really hope they get the greenlight to do the rest of the series. Starting with 1. Please give us Harry Mason going through Midwhich elementary.
Totally agree. The cramped rooms, the corners, never knowing what new horror awaits behind each door…
The thing about the game is that, just when you think the hard part’s over, it just gets more and more and more repressive. It punishes you for succeeding.
Absolutely, not to mentioned the long, dark corridors…
Totally agree. You never feel powerful; you just feel tense and underprepared. I don’t think I’ve had to play in bursts like this for a horror game since Silent Hill 3. God help us if they do a remake of that particular nightmare!
Might be the otherworld apartments and labyrinth for me. The bugs crawling everywhere coupled with the mandarins was panic-inducing. The apartments has that perfect balance of claustrophobia and maze-like layout that makes you feel like you’re losing your mind.
Everyone’s saying that and I can’t say my experience was any different. I could only play a couple hours at a time due to the sheer stress of it all, haha.
