To be fair with Yoshiki, it seems most of the big names in the scene didnt say a word (at least in public); I think Ive seen just Gara, IZAM and maybe a couple of more say some words/pay some tribute to him.
calm down man, sugizo immediatly talked about it, kyo, karyu from despa, hazuki and even the great TOMOYASU HOTEI talked about it, a lot of bandmen talked about. These guys had 3 albuns of covers wich featured names like Shiina Ringo, DIR EN GREY, Pay money to my pain, MUCC, MERRY, DERLANGER, morie from dead end saiyd some really great shit about it, the daughter of ryuichi sakamoto, even some profiles like the EMBAIXADA DO JAPAO NA RUSSIA talked about it, everyone showed respect like they deserve. Here in my country i’ve never seen lots of profiles from anime talking about it. Ive never seen something like that, even when Daisuke from kagerou or Ishii from Kagraa died, even the metalcore scene and fans of bands like MTH or Crystal Lake showed they respect in my bublee.
I’m not really into BUCK-TICK, but people needs to understand that while X JAPAN was the rugrats in the scene, BUCK-TICK was playing TOKYO DOME in 1989.
C’mon, before L’arc fired sakura because of drugs, BUCK TICK had Imai on LSD and doubled the bet releasing AKU NO HANA and playing in TOKYO DOME.
Sakurai has gone but left an incredible amount of songs to digest.
Huge respect!
They weren’t really friends. I don’t understand why people are taking this as an opportunity to once again “Yoshiki bad” lol. If he gushed about how much Sakurai meant to him, I’m sure he’d get a bunch of flack for making it all about himself again.
there’s a weird “love being not dead! did you know that pre-ordering my concert tickets with yoshiki rakuten debit card gets you a glass of sparkly at the door? hurry up, only ten tickets per night get the bubbly add-on! RIP acchan, you would have loved to have a rakuten card with your face on it. are you decorating your private jet for the halloween this year, @elon?” vibe which I hope is an unintentional part of his awkward sentence structuring, but it reads off. he could have posted the world tour final sentence in a separate tweet imo.
Japanese people aren’t the best with their words and expressing how they feel through words. Y’all while find ANYTHING to drag down Yoshiki and it’s ridiculous. Even someone dying
the criticism towards Yoshiki goes to what he promotes his tour while talking about Sakurai, in the same tweet is disrespectful “in my opinion”.
obviously he has to talk about his business first.
It’s like saying “I just found out about Sakurai’s passing, but come to my show anyway” It’s conceited.
You could have put it in a separate tweet…
yeah tbh it reads off to me as well. Why be precious with tweets? Make one to mention someone’s passing and another for your tour finale. Yoshiki is known for using any opportunity to promote his stuff, so it’s not a surprise some feel weird about his phrasing.
diva-san seems perfectly fine with congratulating himself on the world tour (did you guys know he had a word tour? a world tour of playing his classic arrangements all over the world? can you guys literally like imagine???) so idt that’s the case…
Yeah bc it’s his world tour. Ik people are chronically online so they tend to forget, but this happened in REAL LIFE. he can mourn in private, in real life. He doesn’t need to TELL you guys his feelings. He knows his own feelings and what he thinks.
yoshitty bad
yoshitty bad [2]
Tweet looks in bad taste optics-wise to some. It’d look just as bad to some offline equivalent of people if he said this same thing in person to whatever public he said it to. Unless the two topics were related somehow, it’ll rub folks the wrong way because it shows social disregard of the room to them. Maybe people who don’t see it that way just don’t see it that way, people are just different.
That said, in an attempt to kind of be on track again in the comments…who among The Elite are gonna be filling those seats of his rusty little world tour, with all the pomp and circumstance he gives it? Who do you-all think would show up?
definitely not Queen Elizabeth
I was upset that Yoshiki hadn’t said anything for 4 days, and while the tweet was clearly tactless (as someone pointed out on the discord, being tactless around death is basically his thing at this point) I was glad that he at least addressed it. I did think part of the reason he wasn’t addressing it was because he didn’t want to inadvertently draw attention to a certain early 90s photoshoot involving the two lol
super normal and not wierd behavior to promote your tour in the same tweet you are expressing condolences for the passing of a fellow artist
I think some people enjoy to drag Yoshiki a bit too much for dumb inconsequential things, but this definitely should have stayed in the drafts
or at least be worded a little better
yeah pointing out that it’s insensitive to promote your show in the same post as a tweet acknowledging the death of a longtime acquaintance shouldn’t be controversial… still glad he said something though, even if he did it in typical Yoshiki fashion
… just hoping he doesn’t have any more holograms planned

yeah this is basically it. Yoshiki gets graded on a curve in this context since his baseline for death is to monetize it or publicly make it his next muse. Giving a milquetoast tweet acknowledging it that’s relatively reserved in tone felt like the most tasteful possible outcome; even if he did have to drop an obligatory update on the happenings on International Superstar Yoshiki World Tour™ in the next breath, that seemed preferable to what any other likely alternative would have looked like IMO.
Perhaps I am too accepting of the character flaws of funny piano man, but his message mostly mustered feelings of “yeah could’ve gone much worse” in me. My Stockholm Syndrome is my problem, I guess!
Maybe That Scarf will make an appearance?
